Wonderful Cabin and Host

The host is very responsive and the cabin is perfect for a nature getaway. Beautiful wildlife and hiking trails nearby.

Clean glamping experience

Lots of nice amenities: AC, fridge, grill, firepit, porch and porch chairs, shower. Located next to the state park where the stars are visible and the lake has nice docks and trails to explore. I do recommend taking the suggestion to bring water as the tap is metallic in taste. pull out sofa bed was a little uncomfortable, but the lofted bed was very nice. still beats sleeping on the ground camping! would recommend. Host was very friendly and answered any questions. She also offered to mail back a soap we forgot to pack and allowed us to stay a few hours after check out time since the next guests were not arriving till the following day.

Nice little getaway from everything place.

Nice place right next to the Moriane Veiw State Park. Dawson Lake has great fishing and a concessions the makes real great food. The sleeping situation may be a little challenging for older folks but it was a getaway house the our dog LOVED!

Love This Place

Perfect getaway if you don’t want to stay in Bloomington/Normal. Quiet, well maintained, comfortable, safe, beautiful surroundings, fun lake options. I will rent again soon!!

Excellent cabin

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. We loved the entire grounds and loved sitting out by the fire pit. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone how would enjoy a nice quiet stay. Thank you

Excellent woodsy cabin experience

Great location and property owner is terrific to work with. Nice porches for watching birds and other nature. Super close to the Moraine View Park. Comfortable sleeping and DVDs for watching and relaxing. We will definitely return.

Amazing Escape

We had a lovely time! Our host was super helpful. My family enjoyed making memories in the loft. The local beach was peaceful and not crowded. Highly recommend.

Fall getaway

Wonderful property, easy check in and check out. A small house, but big thought has gone into comfort and cleanliness. The location to the state park can't be beat. Our pooch was also very happy, and we love that he was able to travel with us. Abbey is a great host, and even took the time to mail back an item my son left behind.

Wonderful quite cabin

Over all a wonderful place to stay! Very cute rustic quiet place to stay! Just as described and was open to me having my fur babies which was a huge bonus especially being 7 hours away from home! Only thing I would recommend is maybe some cable and better WiFi for the rainy days when stuck inside! But over all super awesome time!

Unexpected Find in Central IL

Great little gem about a 2 hour drive from Chicagoland. I stayed with my 2 dogs for an extended weekend to decompress. The cabin was comfortable and had everything needed for a quick getaway. The street was very quiet and within walking distance of Moraine View State Rec Area. Dawson Lake was beautiful. Super easy check in and checkout...really enjoyed our stay. Would love to come back in the summer to do some kayaking.

Relaxing cabin

We loved spending two nights in this cabin! The best part was the back patio. I was worried there would be evidence of previous animal occupants because it's a pet-friendly cabin, but NOT at all! It was so clean, no smell, no fur, nothing. Also, even though it's surrounded by nature, there were no bugs! Again, felt super clean and well-kept inside. We would definitely go back!

Quick weekend getaway

We so enjoyed our stay in the A-Frame cabin. It was a perfect size for the two of us to connect and relax. The building stayed warm the whole time with very little effort. Our first experience with a cook top and we had no issues cooking all our meals there. Positive would be the one word description. We even took a side trip to the state park for a hike in the fresh snow.

Great Get Away

My husband and I had the pleasure of spending 4 nights in the peace and tranquility of this quaint A frame. We spent every night around the fire in the backyard and nearly forgot that we were only a few miles away from civilization. We can't wait to go back next fall. Pro tip: it is a small A frame. If you are planning on an extended stay and cooking you will might need to bring additional cookware.

Nice little home in the woods.

The cabin was well-stocked for cooking. Great outdoor deck and view. Great walk to the beach. Comfy bed. Not far from state parks. I did have to do some cleaning inside, all the outdoor furniture, and cooler which was filled with water and algae. Great place for a couple. The stairs are a tad steeper than I could tell from the picture, which made it difficult with my daring little one.

Stunk of urine

Filthy, stink, stank, stunk. Host didn’t smell it of course because she didn’t want to refund and accept the situation. Saw that coming based on other negative reviews. Blamed me for leaving for some other reason. She will likely lie below! Stay away from this dumpy place!

Deceiving and scammy

There are houses surrounding this cabin. There is no privacy at all. The loft bed is really 2 twin beds so you end up with a gap in the middle everytime you sleep. I asked about the trail to the lake and received nasty text message snapping that the map was in the guest book however there was no clear path and it is not a short walk but a dangerous walk along a country Rd to even get to a "path". The water smelled like rotten eggs. The grill was disgusting. The shower was so small it was hard to use and then they put a wooden platform in the shower which made it hard to use because the wooden platform was about 1ft by 1 1/2ft and it was slimy, I felt like I was going to slip. The floors turned our feet and socks black they were so dirty. The door don't lock securely and the doorknob on the back completely fell off. On top of everything I received a nasty text message from the property owner using name calling and swearing saying my family trashed the cabin which of course wasn't true in anyway they just wanted to claim the cleaning cost to the trip insurance. I have never had such an unpleasant time. We were uncomfortable the whole time. Terrible 😞

The cabin itself was lovely but everything else wasn’t what I expected

The cabin inside is very nice, clean, and cute! The beds both loft and pull out where very comfortable which was very wonderful. Hanging out and sleeping was comfortable and fun. The cabin is less isolated than it looks in the pictures. It’s close to neighbors on both sides so it doesn’t really feel very private. The state park that it’s located by is less of a park and more of a blacktop road with camping amenities around it. The lake you can swim at is nice but “hiking” on a blacktop road that’s only a half mile loop was not what I anticipated. The property owner provided a map that we could use to cut through to the “trail” from the cabin which was nice, but I’m not sure if we were dumb or misunderstood the instructions but the “bump” markers on the map were no where to be found. We attempted to walk around to the main entrance of the park instead which was a mistake. We rented from a Sunday to Tuesday which was the only option I had so we got what we got, but the restaurants in town I wanted to try were all closed until after our check out time on Tuesday and the state park marina was closed when we tried to go “hike” at the park. Very unlucky and not at all on the property owner lol but There was also the start of a heat wave that day and the start of construction on the road we walked on to get to the state park on that Monday so that made for a very sour “hiking” experience lol. I enjoyed celebrating my anniversary with my partner but I had different expectations for this rental than what was described on the page.
