I stayed at the cottage over Labor Day weekend for four nights with my sister to do some wine tasting in the Finger Lakes. I have done this a number of times and stayed at a lot of properties. Originally, another person was supposed to join us - the cottage boasts sleeping up to 4 people. Unless they are in sleeping bags on the floor, I'm not quite sure where they would go! I wanted to love this place from the photos, but it fell short and I wouldn't stay again.
Pros: The cottage is in a great location with wonderful views. It is nicely decorated and some areas have been updated. The patio and lower level fire pit directly on the lake were very enjoyable.
Cons: The cottage is not really functional if you're staying for more than a night or two. The kitchen has no dishwasher (even though the welcome book from management mentions one) and very few dishes are provided so you'll do dishes after every single meal. If you plan to cook several meals there, you may want to bring your own dishes. The dishes, utensils, pots, and pans are very old and need to be replaced - and there just needs to be more of them!
The bathroom was pretty disgusting. It was not even close to being cleaned and when we called the management company they asked us to take photos to prove that the shower curtain was covered in mold and someone had left hair in the drain and all over the floor; they made excuses instead of apologizing. We ended up going to pick up cleaning supplies and take care of it ourselves, which was not exactly fun following our 6 hour drive to the cottage. They eventually dropped off a cheap shower curtain late at night. There is no medicine cabinet or counter space in the bathroom, so you'll have to put all your stuff in the small drawers under the sink.
The bedrooms do NOT have closets, FYI. Also the chest of drawers provided are either blocked by other furniture or don't open and close except by force. It's not a good used of space. Do away with extra furniture and put a wardrobe in each room; something functional for folded and hanging clothes. The mattresses are in desperate need of being replaced. The springs are poking through the sides and top and my sister and I did not get a full night of rest for the duration of the stay. I actually could not wait to sleep in ANY other bed by the time the trip was over. I'm in my 30s and went home with back pain.
All in all, save some money and stay in a hotel with a comfortable bed!
