Red Roof Inn & Suites Herkimer

10/10 Excellent

"We arrived at the property in the evening and were received warmly by the staff members. We got information about the amenities and we're quite surprised with the size of our room which was very large, well furnished with a microwave, a large fridge, iron and ironing board and a hanging clothes compartment! The bathroom was clean and had all the necessities including shampoo, shower gel, body lotion and hand soap and tissues, and hair dryer. The room had everything one needs for a comfortable stay. We went for the included free breakfast and found the place spotless and we'll stocked with a wide variety of items for every morning taste and we were happy to interact with the attendant, Becca L, who was super friendly and helpful. This is our first visit to the Red Roof but after this great experience I will make sure to look for this brand as my first choice for our next hotel stay. We're really pleased. Thank you!"

"My room was clean and inviting. The staff were friendly and professional. The Beer Garden restaurant at the hotel has great roadhouse/pub fare with very reasonable prices and generous portions. The outdoor pool was clean and warm. The included breakfast provided a variety of tasty options. I came for a convention and the staff was very accommodating of all attendees. I will stay here again next year."

"We had high expectations for this hotel, as it carries the Marriott name. The king room suites were very spacious. But the bathroom was unacceptably small. We were also given a room with two queens for one night, but the king is much, much nicer. There is coffee in the rooms, which is acceptable. There is no complimentary breakfast, which is a surprising disappointment. And, an average breakfast was available to purchase, but was too expensive, and not worth it. The bathrooms in the lobby are a mile away from the front desk. And, there were never any luggage carts available. There is a parking garage with very nice pay-to-park parking and a short walk. But they did validate our parking, which we appreciated. However, the other guests at the hotel during our stay were of a very low-class type of person. And, we found that this said a lot about the hotel. All in all, this was an affordable choice for us, as we were just passing through Utica. We ate at Demarco’s Italian Steakhouse, and it was very nice."

"The surrounding area looks economically depressed and we had some initial concerns about safety. Check in was easy. We were provided with two keys for the front door and room door. The house is well maintained and in keeping with original design. We stayed in the wine and roses room which is next door to the kitchen. If you like to sleep in, this is not the room for you due to breakfast noise. The breakfast was good and timely. There was a hot option (bread pudding and chicken and herb sausage) and a light option (yogurt and yummy granola). The deck and surrounding gardens are very nice."
