We absolutely loved our stay. Staff was so courteous and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was great. We hope to be back! The area is so beautiful. Be sure to hike over to the waterfalls and hopefully see some wild monkeys.

Our stay at the Negiya Ryofukaku was nothing short of excellent. The staff were very professional and polite, accommodating both our very limited Japanese language skills and our request for a larger yukata (I'm apparently taller than the average guest). This was my first time staying at a ryokan. I had a wonderful time. The view was simply amazing. The dinner and breakfast meals were 10 out of 10 for presentation and taste. The baths were equally refreshing. The only thing I could critique is the bed was a little minimal compared to western beds I'm used to. I still got a great nights rest and would come back in a heartbeat.

Hotel Goshobo truly envelops you in the history and tradition of a Ryoukan. The staff are super serious about their presentation and very very friendly. A stay here even for a single night is highly recommended.

Staying here was very pleasant. After checking in, we reserved one of the private baths (Reservations are for 45 minutes, and one reservation can be made at a time,) and headed down to the town to walk around. The walk from the hotel to the station at the bottom/central area of town is about ten or fifteen minutes. An amazing and unique traditional stay in a small town outside of Kyoto. It is secluded and we were still able travel to Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and Kobe. Public transportation is provided multiple time every morning, and although I did a lot I highly recommend walking around the trails, and temples. My favorite temple was right behind the hotel, and it held amazing views and was not crowded at all. Everything was great

This was our first stay at a rhyokan (spelling!)and we were blown away by the beauty, The comfort (personally I felt sleeping on tatami mats on a futon perfect). The attentive service was welcoming and spot on. We ate breakfast and dinner here and the local food was abundant, gorgeously presented and flavorful. We had a room with a private Onsen on a deck. Highly recommend. This was a unique, peak experience and I am a seasoned traveler. Do it.

Great location at Arima Onsen, right on the street but very quiet at night! The Onsen in the hotel is one of the best Onsen I had

The room was very big with a beautiful view of the forest. There was a nice wooden bath in the room and a very large communal bath. The breakfast and dinner were delicious, but there is only Japanese food and green tea, so if you want something else you should take it with you. All in all it was a wonderful ryokan experience at a very reasonable price.

Excellent service from the staffs. Love the location. Close to everything. The owner was very nice and staffs are welcoming and helpful. Love the traditional room.

Rooms are beautiful and large

This is an excellent, upscale property that really takes good care of guests. The room we stayed in was very large, especially compared to normal Japanese hotels. The hot spring is well maintained, and the dinner was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Must take the train car (not covered by JR) to this location from JR Sannomiya Station. 10 minute walk up a steep hill from the Arimaonsen Station to the hotel. Everyone at the hotel was very nice and accommodating. Spoke English well enough to check in and get help that we needed. Offered hotel room and onsen instructions in English.
