"Generally nice looking hotel in quiet good quiet location. 7 to 8 min walk to the underground (3 optional stations). Walking distance to the shops and local restaurants. Female public bath (onsen) was very poor quality. Water was quite cold, and there were even no water dispenser. What is very unusual. ( travel a lot). Moreover, public bath is located on the 13th floor, however there are not clear signs ( when you leave the lift) which direction to go. I know is not a big deal but end up walking round and round. Rooms are nice, big, clean. However: that unbearable dump smell on the corridors is unacceptable, considering 4* hotel. Breakfast was ok. If you prefer quiet breakfast- it is not a good choice. There are many guests staying, so it is like a battlefield..Small and crowded."

Tokyu Stay Shimbashi (Ginza area)

"There were good and bad things about this place. The good: The location is amazing, very near everything, Tons of restaurants around. There is a 7-11 around the corner. a great bakery about 2 blocks down, and a great ramen place that is a Japanese chain, about 3 minutes away. and a short walk to the Ginza area. The Shimbashi train is maybe 5 minutes away. The room was clean, had a great tub. Of course, the toilet had a heated seat with a warm water bidet. Came to love that. The room also had a washer/dryer combo in it. So it was very convenient to wash clothes. The bad: the rooms are tiny by Western standards. Probably average for inner Tokyo and Japanese-sized rooms. There is no room cleaning; they only empty the trash and bring towels. And even sometimes I had to go ask for garbage bags and get towels on my own. The restaurant in the lobby is a rip-off. I would avoid it unless it's your only option. The breakfast is overpriced and not very good for the money. Same with dinner we had there. So many other better options in the neighborhood. For breakfast, we headed to Cafe Veloce across the street a few times. The lobby is also very small. Not really anyplace to sit down there. Also, the coffee machine makes a decent cup of Joe, but they put a sign on it that it's not to be used until 7 am. I had jet lag and was up at 4:30 with the rising sun and wanted some. The washing machine is very convenient, but the cycle takes all night. and none of the staff know how to operate"

MONday Apart Hamamatsucho Daimon

"This was our 2nd time at a MONday Apart and it lived up to our high expectations. Friendly English/Japanese staff made check-in a breeze. The Room: The Superior Family Room was incredibly spacious and comfortably fit 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids under 10) with two larger-than-twin beds pushed together and bunk beds for the kids. No view, but great blackout curtains for a good night’s sleep. Only 2 rooms per floor made it quiet and private. It had a classic Japanese bath/shower with toiletries, and a kitchen equipped with a good-sized fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, toaster oven, pots, and plates. It had everything we needed and more! Safety: Excellent. Completely keyless entry. You use keypad codes for the room and elevator, and a code is required for the main lobby after hours. Location & Transit: Highly walkable and safe. It’s a 10-minute walk to Hamamatsucho Station, making trips to Tokyo, Shibuya, and teamLab easy. Tokyo Tower is just a 15-minute walk. Lots of small local restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Airport Access: Haneda Airport is a direct shot to Hamamatsucho Station via the Tokyo Monorail (rapid train is the 1st/last stop, then a 10-min walk). Because we had 4 large bags and 2 kids, we took a taxi van instead, which took a stress-free 30 minutes. They even lent us umbrellas on our one rainy day. Small lobby, but completely functional. We will definitely be back!"
