Mackinac County, MI

Michigan

The island is a summertime tourist mecca. However in the Winter there are only a few hundred permanent residents on the island. The only reliable transportation this time of year is to fly, that is weather conditions permitting. Beautiful to be there if you don't mind the cold and snow.

We took a ferry to the island and stayed 3 days over the 4th of July. No cars or trucks allowed. Horse drawn carriages took us around the island.
