"Ibis is basic but has everything you need, most importantly close to centre of old Town and everything within walking distance...staff are excellent and really friendly which makes it so much easier...rooms are small but ur not in the city for the hotel, ur there to see the city, so all you need is a good safe base, which this is...didn't eat there but menu looked alright....pillows are the only negative -its like a bag of socks!- nothing a few beers can't cope with but not sure how anyone who is serious about sleep will cope....but other than that all good, have stayed here 4-5 times so that should tell you everything "

"It has the best location, two minutes walk from the train station, centrally located in The Royal Mile. It is very close to restaurants, and shops. The bed was very comfortable! There is an ongoing remodeling and they start at 7 am. And the lift was out of service and there were signs for reception and none for the lift. We went around our floor a couple of times. The bathroom sink gets clogged easily."

"For us, this hotel was absolutely perfect! We had a beautiful view of Grassmarket, and the castle. Room was very comfortable, breakfast was very good and staff was helpful. Keep in mind that you are in a noisy area. It wasn’t an issue for us, but might be for some. "

"Great location. Right across from the train station. One street over from the Royal mile and a bridge crossing to New town. Great snacks and drinks at no cost in the room. Wonderful rain showers and great heat and air conditioning."

"Air conditioning was weak, we woke up a few times hot. The room was stuffy and dated. It’s not a luxury experience, it was average. The rest of the hotel was lovely and the food was excellent. Wouldn’t come and stay again but would eat here."

"Staff at reception excellent. Had a window free room, very compact and warm, but ok for one night. Very handy for train station right across road ."
