This is a 10 out of 10. The location at the edge of the forest is spectacular. The service is impeccable. We are vegan and they accommodated us with absolutely delicious meals. It is located just on the outskirts of the Nara Deer Park where you are surrounded by a lovely forest ambience and yet you are just a short hike from the Park and its bustling surrounds. The trail just outside the Ryoken takes you up the mountain.It is simply an awesome place!

I was such a beautiful place to stay! There was plenty of room, and plenty of pillows - rare in Japan! The decoration was very tasteful and welcoming. Staircase was a little narrow, but this is common in Japan and not a fault of the owner. There was only one toilet, which worked fine for our family of 4. Escaping from daily busy life. From the beginning the hospitality was warming and excellent. The front desk lady super duper nice, showed us the facility, amenities and genuinely happy to have us the onsen/ryokan experience. The bath house was nice and clean. The room with the view of the city was just spectacular a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast. i highly recommended this to get away from the hustle and bustle of OSAKA.

The property seems to be recently updated, it is modern, and clean. The amenity is lacking a few things (for example, it tells the guest to wash dishes and put them away but doesn’t provide a clothe to dry them). Also, the instruction isn’t super clear. The instruction reads to leave the key on the table when checking out (that’s what it says literary in English), when in fact you need to lock and put the key in the lockbox as one example. Also the road to access the property is quite narrow...
