Nice room. Would stay again

I come to NY often and this is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. Location is 10/10 and staff is beyond helpful. Rooms were standard NY size, but very quiet for me. Would stay again!

The location can’t be beat. Everything was wonderful. From the friendly staff at reception, to the constant text check-ins to make sure I was enjoying my stay and had everything I needed. The room was beautiful and cozy. Definitely will not be my last visit.

The staff is excellent, especially the doormen like Dino. Phillipe Staark renovations are ancient, 2007 renovations are also old. This was a lounge bar scene at one point, now the bar doesn’t even open. Elevators or 2 were not functioning sometimes. King room and bathroom are spacious, location is great. But new ownership and a fresh renovation is due.

Everything was excellent

This was our second stay at this hotel, and we chose to return because of its convenient location, especially being so close to our daughter’s apartment and within walking distance of several lovely restaurants and cafés. During our first stay last year, we did experience some noise from a neighboring guests playing music at various times in their rooms but it was resolved. This year we booked our stay on the 9th because we were arriving around 3:00 a.m. on the 10th. At check-in, we were initially given a room on the second floor, directly above the bar. The front desk staff member kindly suggested that we’d contact reception later that afternoon to request a room change. We were very appreciative that they were able to move us to the fourth floor. One thing to be aware of though, is that the building itself does not seem to provide much sound insulation. We could hear guests arriving late at night with all their conversations and footsteps in the hallway. Our biggest concern, however, was noise from the room above us. For three consecutive nights, there was significant noise for more than 45 mins after 11:00 pm. The sound was surprisingly loud and carried clearly into our room, footsteps and things being moved around. We have never experienced hearing other rooms noises so loud in other hotels. Staff had to get involved to remediate the situation each night but if the building doesn’t have good insulation, there’s not much they can do. Won’t be staying here again.
