"My family needed a hotel for the day just prior to our flights at 11pm so we could clean up and shower after a beach day. The cost was good and location made it easy to get to the airport. Although this place is dated, it wasn’t that bad for the price. If looking to do Kauai on a budget, I’d recommend it. No pool or amenities really but clean rooms and showers"

"Room was clean and the ocean view was excellent! Wi-Fi worked fine. The extra free amenities were very nice like the bike rentals, mini-cooler, ice, and nice thick beach towels. Swimming pool was very nice with a decorative waterfall. Across the bike bath was a small sand beach but nice. A homeless couple were living in some bushes and trees across from the hotel but were hidden from view. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again ."

"Glad we stayed at Royal Sonesta for a week. My family had a great time. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi were clean and we spent a lot of time in water. The kalpaki beach access is a great convenience. The food at kukui restaurant was great. The staff were very helpful and the concierge helped me plan out my week to my requirements. The walkway in between the beach and Sonesta provided for some scenic evening walks. The location is ideal. It's close to the airport and many other attractions are within 30 mins drive. Highly recommend this resort. "

"Front desk staff was rude at check in, we were given the wrong room, the property is so old the air conditioners and front door were completely rusted out, and the cottage rooms are right next to a huge public park right out the windows and front door. "

"We had been at 2 different VRBOs for the week prior to this. We prefer the privacy and uniqueness of those experiences to that of a big resort where we felt like more of a number in a concrete jungle. And the price/value was so much better with the VRBO route. An example was the $40 per night money grab for parking. "

"We were surprised to learn that we ended up at a time share resort. The listing had the word “aparthotel” in small print which is the code for understanding that this isn’t a standard hotel arrangement. Our suite was OK but pretty blah. A second disappointment was that we were put in an accessible suite which meant that the bathroom was unpleasant. And while there is a good restaurant on the property it doesn’t serve breakfast so you need to buy food at their little market or the local grocery store which was recovering from a problem with their refrigeration system. The resort location is close to several great beaches and Hanelei is a prime area to explore. And once we adjusted to the timeshare mode our stay was pleasant. "
