Gangneung must see attractions
1. Jeongdongjin Beach
Jeongdongjin Beach is known for its stunning sunrises, which are best viewed from the top of Mount Goseongsan. Rise early in the morning and climb to the top of this hill to join the other tourists and locals who often gather here to start the day. Stand at the pretty Yeongin Pavilion located atop the hill to watch the sun come up. Afterward, head back down toward the beach and spend a few hours relaxing and enjoying its golden sand and blue waters.
2. Anmok Beach
Get away from your worries at tranquil Anmok Beach. It is a great place to swim in summer and walk in any season. Even on very warm days it is rarely very busy. Dine on tasty seafood straight from the ocean, use the showers and other well-maintained facilities and get an energy boost at one of the many little cafés along Coffee Street.
When you visit beautiful Gyeongpo Lake and Gyeongpo Beach, be sure to stop at the Gyeongpodae pavilion. Spend some time here taking photos of the outstanding views on all sides, which are unusual as they cover a wide range of different terrains. Look carefully at the rich details of this impressively detailed pavilion, which is built in the traditional Korean style and has a long and fascinating history.
4. Gangmun Beach
Nothing says vacation like spending a lazy day at Gangmun Beach, a popular beach in Gangneung. Wander the lakeside or discover the area's sunrises.
5. Gyeongpo Beach
Spend a morning exploring the picturesque biking and walking trails that surround Gyeongpo Lake. Then head to Gyeongpo Beach in the afternoon to relax on the ocean sands. Swim in the ocean, ride a banana boat and take advantage of the bustling stores and seafood restaurants that have been built all along one of the biggest beaches on South Korea’s eastern coast.
6. Haslla Art World
This may be the only place in the world with outdoor sculptures in a park-like setting and indoor artwork made of cow dung. Haslla Art World creatively combines natural elements with innovative modern art in a 27-acre (109,000-square meter) setting. Enjoy ocean views of sparkling blue waters from a bench overlooking the East Sea. Walk through gardens and seek peace from the calming green sights and pleasant scents.
