"We found a dirty sock in our room from the last guest. I let the front desk know and the person there didn’t even apologize for it. The room was obviously not cleaned thoroughly. He told me “ok, we’ll take care of it”. We came back after a day of sight seeing to find our room wasn’t even cleaned by housekeeping, and the dirty sock was still sitting there on the floor by the bed. Our trash cans were still full and our dirty towels from that morning were on the floor as the hotel asks guests to do. I made sure before we left that morning that the “Do Not Disturb” door sign was removed so the room would be cleaned. We had 2 rooms there and our room next door was cleaned, but the dirty sock room was not. I called the front desk and they apologized this time and asked me what I needed, as it was too late to clean the room. They still did not say they would come to pick up the dirty sock, but at 10:30pm they brought us a couple sets of clean towels and some bottled water. I gathered the dirty towels and set them outside our door. I also emptied all of the trash cans into 1 bag and put that outside our door. I fixed our 2 queen beds so we could sleep that night and the dirty sock stayed on the floor in our room. The front desk gave me a credit of $35 off of my bill that was over $2,000 for my trouble. Fair? I don’t think so. When I got home the next day, I received an alert from my Amex card that the Royal Sonesta charged me another $15+. So the $35 credit is now a $20 credit. "
