"The Toshogu Shrine and Shinto Bridge are within walking distance. There are multiple restaurants within walking distance for lunch, including a Lawsons! They have a free shuttle to and from the train station, what a nice accommodation. The rooms were spacious and clean. The onsen was clean and also has an outdoor onsen! The food was delicious and they different each night and breakfast! I highly recommend this ryokan and I would definitely come back here when visiting Nikko!"

"Great hotel and staff. Location was fine. Only reason for the low review is the instructions/policies stated for the guest bath include provisions for small tattoos so long as they are covered by the property-provided cover-up sticker. When we arrived, the policy was 'guests with tattoo's are not permitted'. Not too big of an issue, but my wife, with two small tattoos was excited to try the bath as it was her first time in Japan and was unable to enter. Please ensure posted policies like this are consistent for future guests."

"This resort was significant to how amazing our snowboarding vacation turned out. Breakfast and dinner buffet was delicious! It’s true they don’t change items but there were so many choices that it really wasn’t necessary. We looked forward to breakfast and dinners there the entire 4 night stay. We had the junior suite which has the stone tub as our bath and it was a dream come true. Japanese style futons were so comfortable even after a long day of snowboarding. I didn’t mind that we had to set it up ourselves, it was a fun experience. The ONLY/main issue I had was that their public bath started off amazing until I noticed the insane amount of heavy black mildew/mold all over the walls and ceilings, it was like a horror movie and I couldn’t unsee it. Please please get that cleaned/disinfected, it is such a health hazard. I wish to come back and enjoy the facility again!! The saving grace was that we had our private tub as an option. The town is quaint so not much to do, so it was great that they had a game room with arcade games and ping pong table, our kids loved closing the night out there. The value we got for the experience was great and we want to return and do it all again! "

"Nice new building & modern rooms, friendly staff, convenient and free parking. Walkable from the train station but is uphill and not very close (probably not a good idea with bags). The property offers free transfers from the station, but only hourly and just a few times a day - I would not consider this a negative though given the hotel is affordable and taxi rides are cheap. "Our stay at Toyoko Inn Takasaki Station Nishi 2 was average, but there were a few disappointing aspects. Although we had clearly mentioned at the time of booking that we require a vegan breakfast, the hotel was unable to accommodate this request. It would have been helpful if this had been communicated in advance, as dietary requirements are important for many travelers. Additionally, the room was not cleaned to the standard we expected. While it was not extremely dirty, it did not feel properly maintained or thoroughly cleaned. Communication was also a challenge, as there was a lack of English proficiency among the staff. This made it difficult to discuss our concerns and clarify basic requests. On the positive side, the location near Takasaki Station is convenient. However, improvements in cleanliness, dietary accommodation, and English communication would significantly enhance the guest experience."
