「Fantastic breakfast buffet, glorious views from the Junior Suite. Ventilation in the room was poor though - the Aircon was a little underpowered. The beds were huge, but provide little back support. Wonderful location, perfect for both relaxing holidays and hiking holidays. I will return one day.」

「Pictures in the website do not truly reflect the actual condition of the place. It’s dated and in need of some basic maintenance. Doors catching on the floors, tarnished brass on door handles, musty smell, … overall appearance is tired and could do with a freshen up. Room service/cleaning only done if booked the day before (and before 6 pm) which was sneakily put through. Not what I would expect for the price charged, it should be by default! Breakfast was ok but average quality foods. Staff...

「Pros: breakfast was great. Breakfast staff were awesome. Rooms clean. Cons: cleaning staff never supplied us with toilet paper. Even the first day we had very little. Every day they would short us a towel. If you kept a dirty towel hanging and you didn’t place it on the floor they would not replace it. The Wi-Fi was not good at all. Their gym, haha let’s just say was there but it was completely empty.」

「Beautiful hotel and grounds! Friendly and helpful staff, delicious food! A wonderful all inclusive experience. We had a beautiful room with an extra large balcony with partial view. Room was always cleaned daily and towels changed. We enjoyed the location, the ample parking and the grounds. Kids enjoyed the heated pool and we all enjoyed the buffet, kulinarium restaurant and the evening shows. We are already planning our next trip there! Thank you for a beautiful holiday week Riu Madeira! 」

「João, Carla and the great kitchen and cleaning staff went the extra mile to make our one week stay comfortable. The room we got was an upgrade because we had found the first room’s bathroom uncomfortably cramped. The room we got was an extra story to climb stairs but João insisted that he carry our bags. He was also super helpful with ideas and bus connections. The large windows opened wide in the evenings to let fresh cool air in. If we had to be inside during the day, the AC could cool the...

「Very good location near historic old town. A few minutes walk from the Aerobus (airport to town public transport) stop. Breakfast buffet was good. Staff were all very welcoming and gave advice on local trips etc.... Glad we chose to stay here.」
