I cannot recommend this place enough! It was so relaxing, beautiful, and the staff was incredible! They offer traditional and local breakfast and dinner that rivaled Michelin star restaurants! It was our first Ryokan experience but definitely will not be our last now. Such an incredible place!

The staff is incredibly nice and friendly. If you call them in advance, they can pick you up at the Ohara bus station for no extra charge, as well as take you back to the bus station after your stay. The view of the surrounding mountains is beautiful. There is a small temple walking distance up the road, as well as hiking paths into the mountains. To start the staff is absolutely kind and hospitable. They really make you feel at home even if you’re 1000s of miles from it. Second, the actual hotel and scenery is out of a dream. An actual fairy tale! It made me fall in love with Japan even more. Third, everything was super clean and neat. And lastly, the complimentary items were just unbelievable! I will recommend anyone and everyone to this beautiful place. I will forever be grateful for everyone there!

Amazing! The property offered a shuttle ride from the station. We were greeted with a cup of tea. We were also taken to our room and with assistance and given a thorough tour of the space and the services that the hotel provided. The property has a beautiful view of the lake. The room was spacious for our group. Highly recommend the meals offered for dinner and breakfast. The onsen was also clean and spacious.

Amazing property! The staff were so kind. I lost my glasses off of the balcony and the next day staff searched to find them for me!
The onsen on the balcony was so wonderful! A very spacious room with nice amenities. Great view of lake Biwa. Would highly recommend!

The hotel was so clean and the staff was so friendly. The shuttle service and food was beyind excellent. Yumotokan onsen was so good for 600 yen value. The only downside was that the hotel room smelled like cigarettes even though it was supposed to be non smoking. But I guess this is true in any part of Japan. But this was totally made up with the onsen facilities and food and friendliness of the hotel staff.

This hotel is fabulous. The rooms are stylish and the location could not be better. It is right next to a subway station and an easy trip from Kyoto station. The breakfast is tasty with many choices. The rooms are a little on the small side for Americans...we are from New York City so pretty typical for NYC standards. Would 100% stay here again. Five star for food, design, location, and service.
