Upon arrival the 2 staff members never greeted us or introduced themselves. They did not let is know about the schedule power outage the next day that was scheduled from 7am-3pm. We were told that we had a kitchenette but it actually was only a small fridge. The pool was absolutely disgusting. It was very cloudy water full of leaves. The tiles around the edge were falling off. There was no ladder to get in and out of pool. The service at the pool was horrible as clearly we were interrupting a show on there phone. They never asked us if we wanted a drink or anything. They did eventually give us our complimentary drink. After we showered we sat down to order food they were not prepared to serve food. We then noticed cockroaches in the bathroom that were coming up from the sink. We notified them and they sprayed raid and left us in the same room with the raid. The curtains around the bed were moldy and the floor was rotting in spots. The maintenance was extremely lacking. The design and concept is there for a very cozy romantic getaway. It is definitely a extremely steep climb up to the bungalows. Also another steep climb to pool area. The ocean view was extremely limited even though we booked ocean view. Queen size bed is a double bed with a very large bite mark in sheet into mattress. Pictures on the internet are definitely not what it is.

It was important that we had a balcony. And the management took it upon themselves too allow my daughter and I to sign a release. And it was so wonderful we enjoyed our room at 413. The beds were very comfortable in the shower had a lot of pressure and the view was amazing pool and ocean. The staff in the restaurant were fantastic.

Our stay was while hurricane Simon and Trudy were passing through. The hotel did an incredible job of keeping all the guest updated on the hurricanes and an even better job of making you feel completely safe. The amount of work that is done to protect the guests is unbelievable. At no time did I feel afraid or concerned that we were in danger. Clean up after Simon passed was quick and done with very little inconvenience to the guests. 10/10 for all the hard work the complete staff did during our stay. I would also recommend putting aside a little cash for the Friday night tasting on the upper deck. The food was incredible, presentation was fantastic, a great experience. The staff did their very best to make the weather conditions a small inconvenience to our holiday and we appreciated that very much. Thank you to all the staff for all your hard work and dedication.

If you are looking for fun in a beautiful, tranquil spot right on the ocean, stay at Barcelo! The amenities are great and the staff is superb! The Barcelo Life crew made the afternoon fun with games and activities in the pool. The wait staff was so kind. And the hotel front desk staff was very helpful! We loved the location away from the main area of Puerto Vallarta, but close enough to take a quick taxi ride in if we wanted. But, we actually didn’t want to leave the resort! There were lots of pools (4 total), a great beach front, and wonderful dining options. Just outside the property are a few little shops (pharmacy, oxxo, etc) in case you need anything. It was so peaceful but also a ton of fun for our whole family (tween/teen kids). I loved the shows in the evening and music at the bar. It was the perfect blend of vacation fun and vacation relaxation! Definitely was family friend - we met lots of couples as well as families staying here. It was awesome!

"We only stayed one night. It was a nice clean place for an evening. The only con is that they leave this very bright patio light on until 10:30 pm. Like a spot light. So sitting outside in the evening really is not an option. You have no control over it. Not sure why they do that."
