Perfect Location

Perfect spot by the bay with excellent views and direct access to the beach. You are not going to get any closer than this and with a large inviting deck to go along with it. House was fine, albeit a bit dated, though most of your time should be spent outdoors anyways. Hopefully can return next summer.

Great Stay

Perfect sunsets

What an awesome location! The best sunset deck views ever. The host was super communicative and quick to respond to any questions before and during our stay. If you’re headed to Cape May for vacation check this place out!

Great home and location!

My family enjoyed our stay very much. Easy beach access, we enjoyed the views and sunsets. Close to restaurants and shops and Cape May. Kitchen is well equipped. The steps to the beach must have been upgraded from previous reviews, we had no issues at all. Beach equipment provided. We hope to return soon!

Wonderful house, location and host!

We had a wonderful and relaxing time here. The house was beautiful and clean, and the location was perfect and very peaceful. Susan was very nice and helpful. We will definitely be booking with her again. We enjoyed many walks on the beach and watching the sunset on the deck. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet. Thank you very much!

Phenomenal beachfront stay!

You can’t beat this location and sunset views. The deck and stairs right down to the beach make it an ideal spot for everyone- including your pet! Highly recommend this home as we had one of the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations. Easy to get to local food stores, restaurants and the center of Cape May. The host was extremely accessible from the time we inquired about this home until we left. A home run for everyone!

Great location! The house looks even better in person than it does in photos my friends and I had a moms getaway and we loved this house the private beach! Susan was super helpful and easy to rent from! The house was clean, beds were clean. Nothing but great things to say, will be coming back again!

Beautiful sunsets

The location was great. It had a beautiful deck with spectacular sunsets and a well-stocked kitchen. Plus it was dog friendly! Unfortunately, swimming in the water wasn’t possible because of numerous jellyfish. However the beach was great for walking.

Adorable beach front

This is an adorable home on the bay side and beach front. Susan was fabulous to work with. My partner and I had a wonderful time on morning walks with our dogs. The neighbors are all lovely as well. Big bonus.

This was the perfect house for a long weekend with my girlfriends. Great location, quiet neighborhood, awesome outdoor space to enjoy (minus the tiny black mites that bit up my arms and legs! bring bug spray!). Susan was easy to communicate with and always happy to answer any questions.

While Susan was incredibly polite and responsive, the overall concept of renting through VRBO is for the owner to, for the most part, be invisible. We were stunned by a text saying that she would be waiting for us to arrive at her house for check in; the day of, we got a follow up text asking for our ETA. Then, the next day we got another text asking if everything was going ok. Again, this was polite, but not what we want on a vacation—we felt like we were being micromanaged. As for the property, it was underwhelming. The house definitely needs updating. There is a terrible smell permeating throughout the house. (I think it’s mothballs.) The beds were uncomfortable, the bathrooms were not clean, the towels are very old, and some of the dishes in the cupboards were dirty. There were also several spiders hanging in webs throughout the house. The outside deck, however, was nice and had several seating choices. Nevertheless, we ended up leaving a day early because we were so uncomfortable.

Hidden lease requirement, unsafe stairs leading to beach, overall not good value for money

The positives: The view from the back deck is stunning. It was nice sitting on the deck in the mornings and at sunset. I was happy that the property is dog friendly and that dogs are allowed on the beach 24/7. The bed in the master bedroom is a king size and very comfortable. Despite this, there are quite a few negatives to make people aware of: The homeowner contacted me asked me to cancel my booking through VRBO and pay her directly for the rental (I refused to do this). Less than a week before my stay began she called again and told me I had to sign a separate lease even though I paid in full through VRBO and the booking was non-refundable. VRBO confirmed that they allow their renters to do this. This listing should clearly state that a separate lease will need to be signed - especially since the booking is non-refundable. The steps leading down to the beach are extremely unstable, narrow, and steep with railings placed too high to assist you in getting down the stairs. During our stay one of the steps completely gave way and thankfully no one was injured. The owner came the following day to put in a temporary fix and stated that new stairs would be built next summer but I recommend they put in new steps before renting this property to anyone else. The homeowners have not provided any beach items - there are no beach chairs, beach umbrellas, or even beach towels. There is a yellow kayak pictured which we thought we could use but there's a note on the refrigerator saying that it cannot be used. This is disappointing for a beachfront property to offer nothing for the beach. When we arrived at the check-in time of 4pm the property wasn't ready and it took an additional 30 min for the owners to finish cleaning and leave, so the linen fee and "professional cleaning fee" are egregious, especially since they also asked that we strip the beds and start a load of laundry for the towels upon leaving the property. The listing says it sleeps 8 people and this is not true, not just because there aren't enough beds for 8 people, but also because when signing the separate lease the owner said the maximum amount of people she allows on the property is 6. The mattress in the downstairs bedroom is very uncomfortable. The above combined with old fixtures throughout the house and no real hospitality made this a disappointing stay and not value for money.
