Do not stay here. It’s an older hotel in a good location until you factor in the drunk party people screaming until 4 am (granted I understand that they did warn about the nightclub and to expect noise, but we did not feel comfortable using our earplugs, the reason which will become apparent soon in my review). We booked the “cozy room with city view” room 401. It was the highest floor, no elevator, very steep and narrow stairs to get there. The room itself had no door separating the toilet, so if you want to use it in peace you have to send your travel partner outside the room. The bed was like two separate beds squeezed together so there was a gap in the middle that you kept getting stuck it. Also, it’s next to the window which has no insulation so even in the hot summer, it’s cold to sleep there even with the large duvet. Our first night the fire alarm went off at midnight, we had to get dressed and flee down the 4 flights of stairs. The nightclub bartender who doesn’t even work there was left to tell us what was going on. The fire fighters came, told us the alarm system was faulty and after sending us back to our rooms, our fire alarm was still flashing. The bartender came around 1 am and took it away and we were left there with no alarm to risk an actual emergency as it was too late to check in elsewhere. We didn’t sleep because we couldn’t use our earplugs in case an actual emergency. So don’t stay here, stay at a newer hotel near Amsterdam Zuid with 24 reception.
