"clean room and friendly staff. cheap and cheerful. calling the hotel amsterdam south is a bit cheeky though. this is in amstelveen, a dutch commuter town outside amsterdam city limits. the location is in an alright residential area, near a canal off the amstel river, but expect the "authentic" dutch commuter experience of cycling 10-15 min to the tram stop or NS station, or 45 min to centrum. for me this was an upside, but i imagine the average amsterdam tourist does not want this and would rather be closer to the busyness of amsterdam proper. (tip: bikes aren't allowed on trams; and not allowed on trains at peak times, and cost extra. folding bikes are allowed without restriction or cost. i cant imagine staying here being enjoyable without my brompton.) the loss of one star is from poor sound isolation. my neighbors were great, but could be an issue if you are unfortunate enough to get less considerate neighbors."

"The breakfast was quite nice with a chef to cook eggs "your choice or made to order." The options for a hot and cold breakfast were also great choices. We did notice that we could hear people "working-out in the gym from our room. We enjoyed our views of the canal and the park, the farmers market and the Magic Circus. Close access to public transportation made traveling throughout Amsterdam so easy!"

"The staff we dealt with were friendly and efficient. While the bed was comfortable, I would describe the furnishings The bar only served wine, beer and soda. There were no washcloths in the bathroom. The hotel did not have an ice machine. We did not get clean coffee cups after our first day of a three day stay. Our room was not serviced on the third day. There was no way to control the temperature. This is not an old hotel so these lacking amenities were disappointing."

"Check-in left a lot to be desired. Had to fill out all my own personal information on a tablet. We were not informed about basic things like breakfast options or how to use the elevator with a key. Room was clean and spacious. Fridge didn’t smell the best. There are snacks and drinks for purchase. At least a free bottle of water would have been nice."

"The location was perfect for me ! you are away from hustle and bustle of the town but close enough to a well connected Metro station. The hotel is so lovely and very modern and I really like it "
