The Moon has great character, a fascinating history (I'm distantly related to many of the past owners from the 1800s), excellent amenities, and excellent breakfasts. I enjoyed my dinners there, too. Josh and Emma from the staff were both very friendly and helpful to me. The parking is easy, the inn centrally located in the heart of the village, and lots of local characters stop by for a pint and folks from further afield for a meal. A quintessential Derbyshire experience. Not my first time...

If you're seeking the quintessetial English county location, this is it. The scenery is beautiful. There is a wonderful pub and restaurant, where the food is actually exceptional. Our room was fantastic, clean and authentically English. Well-appointed with a comfortable 4-poster bed. The Bull Head Inn seems like a bit of a fairy tale, but is not at all contrived. Truly authentic English charm.

Clean room, friendly staff and incredible views! Would definitely return!

We stayed at The Cavendish Hotel on the Chatsworth Estate last October and loved the area and Chatsworth itself. The Devonshire Arms in Pilsey is also lovely, but more casual. We had a room in the farmhouse with a four poster bed and it was very comfortable. Note it sems every village in Derbyshire has a pub/inn called the Devonshire Arms so you DO need to specify Pilsey to get the correct one. Even more confusing there is another Devonshire Arms on the Chatsworth Estate at Beely which is...

Nice room with great service and a really top rate breakfast

Ideally situated for sightseeing. Room was large, well maintained and comfortable. The breakfast and evening meal choices were good and catered to vegetarian and meat lovers. Staff were efficient and friendly.

The most wonderful and charming place! The kindest staff! Delicious food at the pub downstairs! I hope to stay here again soon.

If you are looking for a spot that has character this, is it, it was a cozy old place above a pub. We went in the off season, so we had the place to ourselves. Nice little bookshelf filled with some fun activities to pass extra time off devices too! The food in the pub was not great for the price we paid, but the breakfast was amazing!

Spectacular view of rolling hills, sweet and cozy spaces, immaculate service and genuine friendly staff.

It was a beautiful hotel in a great area in Scotland. The views were outstandig. The room was just as describe, very comfortable and clean. The restaurant was great . I can say every aspect of our stay with this hotel was wonderful. A great find in a litle town.

Quaint and beautiful place to stay. Great pub/restaurant as well! Highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic establishment. Im sure ill be back again many times

My family of four stayed in this lovely inn at the end of December 2015. We were looking for a place to stay between attending a Manchester United Football game and visiting the English countryside. This location was perfect! It allowed us to stay out of the city in a more relaxed and less commercial inn, so that we could truly get a feel for the area. The staff was very welcoming when we arrived around 9pm that evening. We took advantage of the restaurant one evening and my sons and...

A charming former travel inn with great food and helpful and friendly staff.

Great room above a fun little pub. We enjoyed the convenient parking across the street. Check in was simple and our room was just as stated in the booking information. The staff that assisted with our check in recommended Tilly's for breakfast as they do not serve it at the hotel. It was great! Lots of shops and hiking located within walking distance as well. We would definitely stay here again.

Very kind staff for both the stay and dinner, accommodating for requests. The room had a cozy classic vibe and remodeled recently. The inn is right in the center of the town and very walkable with lots of little places around for food and shopping. The food at the attached restaurant was fantastic all around!
