We booked three rooms, and unfortunately, all of them had issues. While the thermostats were adjustable, they didn’t actually function; it was either freezing or we had to turn the air off entirely. In two of the rooms, the TVs didn't work, and in the third, the toilet was leaking. We were also disappointed that our group was separated. Two of us were placed in Building 10, which was far from ideal. We could hear everything—the nightly entertainment and the boats on the river—so it didn't feel secluded or peaceful at all. Additionally, one of our rooms lacked a balcony. The dining experience was another low point. One person in our group of seven got food poisoning. The reservation system for the a la carte restaurants is frustrating, and the food quality was questionable; even at the steakhouse, our waiter was rude and seemed frustrated by simple requests. Furthermore, getting a spot at the beach was a struggle, requiring us to be out by 7:00 AM just to secure a chair. Overall, the stay was decent because we loved the animals and the beach itself, but the room maintenance and service left a lot to be desired.

The food at the buffets was not good at all. When we went to make any reservations for the restaurants we were told to come back the next day. We decided to do the Xcaret Park no one told there were 3 of them and we should do more than one day. When we tried to do more than one day no one was any help.

Suggestions: Snacks - although snacks were sporadic, chips or cookies would be a good alternative for those of us allergic to peanuts Pool Bathroom Access - sucks when you are mobility challenged. Very difficult to go down those stairs next to swim up bar. Why not build bathroom behind entertainment/towel building? Special Beverage Bar in lobby - seemed chintzy to have in an all inclusive. Mormseta gave us awful service. We opted for buffet rather than deal with her.

This was our third time staying at this property. We Love the grounds. Our favorite is the adult pool and the opportunity to snorkel on site. Being connected to Xcaret park is the ultimate perk!

The hotel was great and so were some of the staff. Our biggest issue was the transportation that we booked thru expedia. Prior to our trip i contacted the number provided and was told i would get a call back but it never happened. Then upon arrival our transportation was not ready and we had to wait. Then upon leaving the airport the driver of our van was stopped by law enforcement due to having a headlight out and was found to be driving without a drivers license. This cause the local law enforcement to dig deeper into the driver and had us waiting off to the side of the road for approximately 10 min. The only reason he was allowed to drive away was due to the officer speaking with us and seeing how tired we were and told the driver once he dropped us off he was no longer able to drive. Then the following day i received a whats up app message from an unknown number. (I dont have notifications on for this app) i saw it a couple hours later and saw it was from the travel group we were assigned via expedia. He said we can meet to set up excursions. I messaged him back with a time. I arrived at the location he stated and waited for 15 min to only find out from other companies in the lobby that he was only at our resort for 15 min then left. So now we were stuck without any guidance on how to book dinners or excursions because we booked thru expedia so no other travel agent would assist us. He also made is leave 6 hours before our flight from the hotel back to the airport.

Huge, very safe resort, placed into the jungle with friendly spider monkeys coming onto our balconey everyday, beautiful, well maintained, great pools. Nice but small beach. Food good but not great. Many nice bars. Has tennis courts, basketball court. Great staff. Some music, dancing. Next to Xcarat, 10 min from Xplor. The only downside is only two places in the entire resort know what is going on and how to sign up or where things are, neither of which was guest services or the front desk, and their online schedule, the only one available, was repeatedly incorrect. No other employee knows what is going on and multiple employees repeatedly gave us incorrect information.

Staff was wonderful! Buffet was really good....changed up throughout our stay. was AMAZING to see all the "wildlife" monkeys, deer, birds, lizards, iguanas and so much more. Excaret Park was a wonderful add in....although the site says it is a 15 min walk from the hotel...that is not true...maybe 6, really close! SHOUT OUT to Perla at the concierge desk she was so personable, friendly and very helpful

The hotel has amazing wildlife it’s great if you have kids. The location next to Xcaret Park is so convenient there is so much to do there! We stayed over Christmas and New Years. We stayed in building 18 in room 18101 it was close to the pool. We had great a/c, hot water and room service. The resort is huge be prepared to walk a lot! The à la cart restaurants were ok. If you’re going with a group bigger than 6 people be prepared to not be seated together or even close to your party. This happened to us on all 3 occasions we booked. The buffets were good lots to choose from. Best tip is go right when they open the food is the freshest then. The beach buffet is wonderful and Jonathan was awesome he works the breakfast shift. Monica works the breakfast shift in the main buffet and she was so wonderful too! We only got told about the vacation club once and it was very informal and no pressure. I would recommend this resort to others.

Occidental at Xcaret offered one of the best all inclusive experiences with multiple restaurants, bars, a club, an archaeological site and even wild animals on the property such as spider monkeys, iguanas and coati’s. The staff were very friendly, the property was clean and the rooms were spacious and comfortable.
