"We stayed 4 nights and really enjoyed the experience. The lodging is terrific and diving, jet skiing, snorkeling and sailing are right there on the beach. The restaurant and bar (which also serves food) have good food and drinks. However, it often felt as though they were understaffed and running a bit frantic. It wasn’t uncommon to see the wait staff talking when guests were waiting to order or get food. The two restaurants are the main eateries at the resort and there are no restaurants nearby. Unless you have a car, you either hire a taxi or eat at the resort. One evening, both restaurants closed for a private event and all guests had to either eat at the golf club, which was basic and not very good, or take a taxi somewhere. It’s not very logical to close both restaurants and leave your guests stranded. Poor decision. I spoke to the manager, who has been in place only a month, and shared my observations. She seemed genuinely open to the feedback. I recommend Las Verandas, but I would confirm you will have access to everything before booking. "

"2nd time staying at Arihini. The staff is very friendly and helpful and is prompt at responding to any requests. The only “negative” comment we have is that the combo washer/dryer in the units are not efficient….takes over 3 hrs to do a load of laundry! "

"Truly the most beautiful beach we saw during our entire time on the island. This private island is absolutely gorgeous. The beach alone makes it worth the visit. The rooms could use some updating, and the food felt more like filler food than anything memorable. That said, the drinks kept coming and the beach was easily the best we experienced anywhere on the island. If you want to avoid crowds and simply enjoy a stunning beach in a peaceful setting, this resort is a great choice. Unfortunately, you will need to wait for them to rebuild. The resort actually burned to the ground the same day we checked out. Quite a shocking end to an otherwise beautiful stay."

"We loved Mr. Tucan Hotel. It was our first time in Roatan and they made everything easy. They helped with transportation and let us keep our bags in the office before we could check in and after we checked out our last day. They have a great location right across the street from the beach. The area and beach do get crowded, especially when cruise ships are in port but we had our chairs and towels from Mr. Tucans so there was never a worry. We were in the penthouse suite - the view was gorgeous but it doesn't have a private balcony and while the window opens there is no screen. We love being outside and listening to the ocean at night so we couldn't do that but the room was comfortable and view was amazing none the less. There are a ton of bars, restaurants and shops all within walking distance. Bean Crazy is right on property and was really good and the staff was amazing! Great breakfast and lunch and cheap beers! We also loved Beachers down the road. Great food and friendly staff, right on the water. We snorkeled in the bay and saw a lot of fish! Again, it can get crowded but we would go earlier in the morning before the crowds and had a great time. While the crowds are typically not our style, we really enjoyed our stay at Mr. Toucans and the West End. "

"If you are looking for a resort that is family friendly or a couple looking for a relaxing vacation then the Grand Roatan may be for you. Our nine day stay was wonderful. The property is beautiful and offers a unique opportunity to snorkel right off the beach in calm waters. The staff here is very friendly and work hard to make sure that you have a great vacation. Everyone had such a positive attitude that we were surrounded by good vibes the entire time. As a vacationing couple we took advantage of the Spa and experienced the best massages of our life. It truly lives up to its reputation as one of the top Spa’s in the world! We also enjoyed diving with West Bay divers and it was also the most relaxing dive experience I have ever had. (Ask for Joel). The food was delicious as we chose not to eat off the resort. Security is tight in and around the resorts in general and we never felt uncomfortable particularly on the property. If you choose to go, say hello to Franklin and Daisy at Altera, Dominic and Kimberly at the Drop Off and Sea Cat and the pool attendants Carson and Gilberto. Some of the most lovely people on the planet. "
