「Lovely lil motel. Clean. Comfy beds. Nice staff」

「I am a manual wheelchair user and have been shocked by the amount of hotels that have ADA rooms with beds that are higher than my shoulder. I called ahead to the front desk to have the bed measured from the floor to the top of the mattress. The bed was high but they said the base could be removed. I made the 3-hour drive and was told the base could not be removed out of safety concerns. I finally convinced them and they removed it. I was able to get into the bed and not have to leave. 「The Mermaid Inn is one of our favorite motels. The rooms are decorated with a Mermaid/nautical style with some retro appliances. Overall gives a very homey feeling. Rooms are very clean, staff is really friendly and helpful. Situated between a gas station/store and a Mexican restaurant you have access to fresh food and all the amenities you might have forgotten to pack. Like much of the Long Beach peninsula, the Mermaid is quiet and laid back...but still in walking distance to "downtown" and...
