Hotel Kinparo

10/10 Excellent

"I couldn’t have asked for a better staff. They were so nice and patient with my travel group of ten. They took in our luggage early and had them in our rooms at check-in time. They provided a bus to Kinosaki throughout the day. Kadue was spectacular and her English was good. The views were amazing throughout the entire stay! Views of the water from the moment you walk in, with a viewing area on every single floor, and in the rooms the views were spectacular. The rooms and bathroom areas were really clean and spacious. Snacks and a tea set was provided. The artwork throughout the property was beautiful and serine, and the layout of the property itself was gorgeous. The food was delicious! 1) The Walrus Cafe is a mix of pizza, pastas and Japanese food at decent prices. There are a plethora of games to choose from. They also have free coffee. We ate there twice in our two night stay. 2) Breakfast buffet was delicious and with a lot of variety 3) Ramen/ Japanese restaurant was good too! We had appetizers here and the food was fresh and yummy 4) You need reservations for Japanese dinner; we didn’t have one The onsen was amazing!!! Clean, offered quality supplies needed, and had outside and inside options. It was my first onsen experience and I am grateful I started here. My family wanted massages and our staff helped book them and for a reasonable cost too. The masseuse went to the rooms, which was very convenient. They also have massage chairs on the first floor at no cost."

Base House Kinosaki - One Group a Day Private Villa with free shuttle & activities

10/10 Excellent

"I cannot recommend the The Base House Kinosaki enough. There were 4 of us staying for 2 nights and we wish we could have stayed longer. The Host of the property was fantastic. He was gracious, courteous, incredibly helpful, and went above and beyond at all times. He was very easy to communicate with and responded to our emails and texts right away. His willingness to shuttle us to and from the town was also amazing. The Property itself was great. It is an enormous house with plenty of space. The beds were comfy, the kitchen has everything you could need, there are multiple clean bathrooms, and the projector room is a great spot for a movie night. I want to thank the host again for an unforgettable stay and we hope to be back soon!!"

8/10 Good

"Overall we had a very good experience. Excellent amenities. We drove, had valet parking & help carrying luggage to reception where slippers are provided. We had to carry our own luggage up a few steps & then down a few steps to our room. There isn't a spring water private onsen in the room, but you can reserve a private onsen for 40 minutes. Carpet tiles outside the onsens were heavily worn and ruined the integrity of the otherwise pleasant surroundings. A fixed menu for breakfast with a choice of fish. My travel partner was solo the first morning. I chose to not have breakfast the first day since I wanted to know what was served before. I asked to sit with him, but was not allowed. I understand they had rules and I respected that, but I had a feeling that management may have thought I was trying to take advantage of them and was not entitled to the privilege of sitting in their restaurant since I had not paid for breakfast. The next morning we both had breakfast, which was different than the first morning. It was well done and overall very tasty. There were a few choices for the dinner menu. There was beef, seafood and I believe a kaiseki set. We would have had dinner but I was told beef was 57000 yen, up to 65000 (~$360-$411 USD per person!) The room was clean except a lamp by the door had dust in it. In the winter the shower room was cold. Despite some shortcomings, service was exceptional. It was one of our highlights in our Japan trip. Beautiful views. Dreamy and serene."

Resorpia Kumihama

10/10 Excellent

"Rooms are a bit dated but super clean and well maintained. Staff was awesome, and the breakfast was one of the best I've had at any hotel in Japan. Location is fairly remote, but extremely peaceful, and there are free shuttle busses into Toyooka. Onsen was pretty good and clean. If you are looking for a relaxed time away from the typical tourist bustle, I can highly recommend this hotel. Most guests were elderly and extremely friendly, and it was completely silent at night."
