「Overall a lovely stay. Our room was large, clean & comfortable with a balcony overlooking the front garden area. Good to have a fridge in the hot weather. We also appreciated the USB ports & other amenities. Comfortable armchairs & a comfotable bed, although the bedding was a little excessive for the hot weather - easy to remove the top layer though. The lovely bathroom was also a good size with a seperate bath & shower. Our only frustration was the early morning traffic noise - we had to open...

「The bed was quite comfortable and the duvet cover very soft. I didn't expect much as it was on the cheaper side but was positively surprised. I also like how chilled they are about check in and check out. Overall I can recommend」

「Very basic but even for the price the rooms were dusty. Cobwebs hanging off the walls. We had two nights due to a local wedding. Asked to move rooms because the mattress was terrible. Was told all the mattresses are the same and getting upgraded in the winter. Changed rooms, slightly better mattress. Even for a cheap night I'd expect no cobwebs / dust and a decent mattress. Won't go again.」

「Yorkshires best kept secret. Great room. Plenty of space, very clean, bathroom a bit tired but fine. Comfortable bed and great breakfast. Loads of parking. Pool and spa very clean and well managed. Location in centre of village is superb.」

「I don't normally write reviews but was very pleased with our stay at the Old Deanery The staff were very helpful and pleasant to talk to. The breakfast was excellent and unique. Parking was good and even the owner of the Old Deanery suggested that we moved our classic car as it was parked under a tree to a more open space. The property is more or less opposite the Cathedral in Ripon so very convenient for the centre of town. Due to the unusual hot weather there were even fans in our room to help...

「The room had damp and wood chip wallpaper that was hanging down from the ceiling!! At a cost of £145 per night !! I would have been better camping on the stray We moved rooms and guess what it was just as bad . It’s now reached the end of its life and needs a complete renovation of the hotels bedrooms or reduce the room prices to around £50 a night Stay at your own risk I won’t be I don’t leave reviews but I don’t want anyone else to waste there money」

「Beautiful decor in the lounge and dining room. Bedroom was lovely, clean and spacious. The down side was on arrival I checked in and was told to the pay for parking at a machine. I was there for 2 days and I was charged £30. I spoke to the receptionist and she said I must have put in pm. 9.15 is am to me and that's what I put in. The receipt said 21.15 hours. Receptionist gave me a number to ring but it kept hanging up. Very disappointed with that part of my weekend away.」

Wrinkled carpet over loose & very, very creaky floorboards (making going to toilet during night a noisy affair!), tatty bed bases & filthy windows. 「Arrival was easy, nobody manning reception but was not a problem, key left on the side clearly labelled and clear instructions etc. Room clean and well presented, good amenities, including tea, coffee, fresh milk etc. Room not perfectly blackout with some streetlight coming in round the side of the curtains, and a faint green light from the fire exit sign, not something that bothers me as I sleep with my eyes closed, but some day dreamers might want a blindfold. 「Booked here as a stopover on the way to Thoresby hall from Scotland as it was only a short drive off the motorway. We booked bed and breakfast at a very good price and we also had an evening meal. Both meals were great and the room even had an air con unit which was fantastic in the hot weather. The place was great value for money and we will certainly be back, can't thank the staff enough who were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Well done and we hope to be back soon.」

「Rooms were clean, quiet and had everything you needed. This hotel is room only. You have a key for the front door to come in and out and key for your room. There is a number to contact the owners but only saw them when checking in. Rooms provide tea/coffee and bottled water. It’s a no nonsense hotel which has everything you need in your room for your stay.」
