"We've been to the "go-go" big resort like the SLS BAHA MAR a couple of times before .... then we found this small upscale boutique resort As seniors, this is a marked contrast much for the better: peace and quiet is NEVER a bad thing . "We just returned from our stay at Baha Mar, and overall we had a great time, but there are definitely a few things I'd want future guests to know. The biggest downside was the food. It was extremely expensive and, in most cases, just wasn't very good. On top of the menu prices, everything had a 15% service charge plus a 10% VAT added, which made meals much more expensive than expected. Even a piña colada was around $20, and surprisingly, they weren't even consistent from one bar to another on resort grounds. If you're looking for a quiet couples' getaway, be aware that there are lots of families with young children throughout the resort. Also, I expected a more laid-back island vibe, but many guests dressed very formally, even first thing in the morning to grab coffee. Now for the positives, because there were many! Our room was beautiful, the front desk staff was friendly and welcoming, and the resort grounds are absolutely stunning. The water park was one of the highlights of the trip. It's included with your stay (otherwise admission is around $160 per person), and the lazy river was fantastic. The beach area was also beautiful, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the ocean. Would I go back? Probably, but I'd definitely budget more for food or plan to eat off property a few times. Baha Mar is a gorgeous resort with outstanding amenities, but the dining experience and high prices kept it from being a perfect vacation."

"Atlantis is the Disney World of waterparks. Super attractive and pretty fun. But insanely overcrowded and ridiculously pricey. The food here is not worth it, AT ALL!!! Room was nice. Staff was nice. Tried to use the gym. They have one gym for 4 hotels. It was so crowded that it should have been over the occupancy limit. Had a hard time getting to the few dumbbells that remained because people were on yoga mats in the floor blocking the walkway. Got irritated and left. Have never experienced this crowd level in a gym ever. Some days water slides were backed up as far as they could go because several slides were closed. Not sure why? Want a chair by the pool? You better be out super early! Or you won’t find a single empty chair anywhere. My kids like Disney World. My kids like this place. 100% not my jam."
