"Pleasantly surprised. This looks like a small motel, but is an apartment complex that rents out a few units. The kitchen was well equipped and the bedroom a separate from the kitchen dining room. Just a few blocks from the beach… and a great beach club. For a low budget trip, this place was just great. The staff did not speak any english but google translate helped to facilitate good communication. "

Excellence Riviera Cancun - Adults Only All Inclusive

"The Staff is what makes this place excellent. Fernando, a waiter was a stand out. He turned good dinners into great ones. The pool service was excellent as was the bartender. The resort grounds are very well maintained and beautiful. Rooms are definitely dated and can use updating. Our door had gaps around it and you could see daylight. Not the end of the world but if bugs were present it would be an issue. We did not go to the beach due to sargassum, the beach did look beautiful with plenty of chairs. Food was good across the board. Better than most all inclusive resorts. The only real negative was the cleanliness of the pools. First thing in the morning we would see napkins and leaves in the bottom of the pools the next day they were still there. We stayed in a club room. I do think it’s worth the upgrade because of the room view and the club pool with the bar, I wouldn’t upgrade just because of the alcohol selection and the club restaurant. Magna the club restaurant was good in my opinion but not great! I enjoyed the other restaurants just as much. All in all it is a beautiful resort, the staff are amazing! I would recommend it. I don’t know if I’d go back to the same hotel but would definitely try the Excellence brand again."

"We usually avoid AI hotels due to the usual loud music and organized pool/beach activities. This hotel's website uses words like peaceful and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of the city We checked in during the Mexico/South Africa Fifa world cup opener. Noise and distraction were expected. We had booked a jr suite where we could "enjoy the beautiful scenery of Puerto Morelos, which combines nature with the picturesque streets .." We, regrettably, were given a pool view room, close to both the pool bar and the lobby bar (our worst nightmare!) No privacy and loud, with music from both the pool bar and lobby bar (?) Happy the music stopped by 9:00 pm. We asked for, and we're given a different quieter room by 4:00 pm the next day. This new room was what we had expected, on the quiet side of the hotel, facing the jungle. Too bad, we were only here for two nights. The food here is wonderful! The staff friendly and helpful. The beach is beautiful. The rooms are lovely and comfortable but definitely showing wear and tear. The corridor to our room had carpeting lifting from the floor, a very loud closing door (easy fix!) and it was dark. Breakfast in the dining room would be far more pleasant if there wasn't two different music sources playing at the same time (spa/yoga music vs reggae) Great staff, beautiful location, comfortable rooms but noisy (they had a DJ setup for pool exercises) Just not the calm, relaxing experience we had hoped for."

"It is a new construction, the room was amazing, really clean, with ocean view, the pool really nice. The only thing that it was a big minus is that the Wi-Fi wasn't working in our room, we notified the front desk clerk and went to our room to try to fix it but couldn't be fixed and in that area my phone didn't have good reception there, other than that it was great. "

"The apartment was very clean upon arrival, checkin was easy, (keys in a lock box). Lots to see and do everything within walking distance. The beach 5 min walk and a large grocery also 5 min away. If you have mobilty issues this place has 34 steps to walk up to get in. There was no housekeeping and no broom to sweep up all the fallen palapa grass from the roof of the apt which seems to fall daily."
