The lagoon is brilliant , the Botanic gardens are beautiful . Day trip to the Daintree / Cape Tribulation was a highlight . Kuranda Railway / Skyrail , although quite expensive , worth doing . Lots of Barrier Reef excursions from the marina

Stop off for the reef. Town centre has lots of shops and restaurants. Trinity beach was nice and quiet in comparison. Research crocodiles. I was warned not to swim/snorkle but I did see plenty of people doing so in designated netted areas.

Loved Botanic Gardens and visited it several times. Great variety of good restaurants in town that seemed to be able to handle locals, tourists and huge numbers of people off the cruise boats all at once.

We went in February so very hot and humid. Besides the weather we enjoyed visiting Cairns and the surrounding area including the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.

We also had an awesome experience at the Kuranda skyrail and train and it was amazing a must do in gold class for the train and diamond view for the skyrail magnificent views

Cairns is amazing! Great Barrier Reef snorkeling and Fitzroy island is a must. The lagoon and play area for kids was great, even though we had no kids with us.

Did the 6 day 5 night Gulflander and Savannahlander train trip which included beautiful, amazing Cobbald Gorge.Stopped in Kuranda on return viewed Barron falls at their best.The night market and Aquarium in Cairns very interesting.
"This is within easy walking distance of plenty of shops, restaurants, and the coast. The room itself felt like it was cleaned using only a checklist without any supplemental discretion about whether the room was clean. It appears that they mop the floor with soapy water, but never do anything to rinse it off, and as such the residual soap does what soap is designed to do: attach to dirt. Without the aid of a subsequent washing with water the floor remains dirty and slightly sticky. "
