「I have chosen to stay at the Portola Hotel for five consecutive years, and it is always exceptionally pleasant. The location is absolutely perfect. The neighborhood is safe and scenic, making my morning and evening strolls highly enjoyable. A special highlight this year was spotting wild sea otters near the hotel for the first time. It has truly become my go-to hotel in Monterey, and I already look forward to returning.」

「Clean room well sized」

「Only complaint is very low water pressure in the shower. very upscale nice hotel. Keep that in mind.」

「We were overcharged by $450 and can not reach anyone at the hotel to resolve the issue. We were charged by both Expedia and the hotel. Our room on the ground floor, #126, was next to the elevator, which sounded like a foghorn in our room and ran constantly. Staff told us it would stop around 10 p.m. It did not stop until midnight. Then it started up again at 5 a.m. Outside our door there was a LARGE built-in fan that ran constantly and made it impossible to use the patio because it was so loud....
