Quintana Roo Adventure Vacations

I have been coming to this resort every year for New Year’s, and each year it gets worse and worse. In the past, the management really made an effort: there were beautiful New Year decorations outdoors, nice areas to sit, take photos, and enjoy a glass of champagne. Now it looks miserable. Minimal decorations, no atmosphere at all. The champagne served is the cheapest possible. If you want decent tequila, you literally have to beg for it — and on top of that, the staff lies, claiming they served good tequila. I know tequila very well, so this was especially disappointing. They also organize concerts with completely unprofessional singers, and the sound quality is terrible. This year I honestly did not like a single thing. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially for New Year’s celebrations.

Rooms were fabulous, the most spacious, quiet and comfortable we’ve had at any all inclusive resort in Mexico. They were wonderfully cleaned and well stocked with ice cold drinks and plenty of bottled water. There is no conditioner provided (just conditioning shampoo which did not detangle at all), which was hard for long hair. Unfortunately, the rest of the resort was disappointing, when compared with approximately 15 other Mexican resorts we’ve stayed at over the past 30 years. Many common areas, including the reception desk, appear run down and outdated, with missing light bulbs, broken tiles, etc. The resort is too small to have many large open areas and an abundance of paths to wander, but too large to feel boutique and personal. Staff in all areas were not rude but not overly friendly. Food was mediocre and restaurant lines were often long, even for the buffet. Specialty restaurants are extremely difficult to reserve. We only tried the Italian and it wasn’t great or worth recommending. All drinks were terrible. We tried every option on the menu multiple times and didn’t find a single one at any bar on any day that we enjoyed. Pools were clean but the water was very cold. Bowling alley was fun. Gym was also good. We didn’t use the spa. Area is safe for running off the resort, which we did every day. Beach is quite narrow and water was very churned up so we didn’t use it except to stargaze at night.
