My family and I (two adults, two teens) had a wonderful stay at Swan Song. Swan Lake is a very nice sized lake and is absolutely beautiful. The Swan Song cottage is on a small hill overlooking the lake. You can enjoy views of the lake from the cottage's deck -- we ate most of our meals on the deck to enjoy the views and the weather. From the cottage, there is a path down the hill to the water. Halfway down the path is a gazebo that sits on a point overlooking the water -- a great spot to sit and read or just sit. The property's lakefront is rocky (not a sandy beach) but quite nice. There is a dock that is in good condition and goes out deep enough that you can jump and swim off the dock, or sunbathe on the dock. We rented kayaks from a nearby business that delivers (convenient!).
The house has one bedroom and one bathroom, both on the lower floor. Our teenage daughters slept on the futon (folds out to a bed) on the upper floor, but this made the upper living area a bit crowded. This house would be plenty big for two people; it worked fine for four people but it was a little bit tight; I would not recommend it for more than 4.
Everything was in good working order. The house is not "luxurious" but it was very comfortable and everything works. There is a dishwasher but not a clothes washer or dryer.
The town of Big Fork is about 10 miles away. Big Fork is small, but the downtown has a few nice shops and restaurants. There is a theater that stages plays in the summer -- we went and had a great time. Big Fork also has a "full-size" grocery store and pharmacy just outside the downtown, so you can get whatever you need. It is 10 miles to Big Fork but it is an easy drive.
Besides Swan Lake itself, several day hikes are easily accessible from this house. We did the Holland Falls day hike and it was well worth the 45-minute drive (each way).
The house is well equipped with cookware, dishes, books, DVDs, even paper towels and toiletries and some food staples. In fact, my one complaint about Swan Song is that the house might be *too* well equipped -- it felt a bit cluttered. It was great to find ketchup already in the fridge, but we didn't need four (yes, four) bottles of ketchup waiting for us. The library of books and DVDs is great, but LPs and cassettes just take up space. The number of dishes, mugs, etc., is excessive for a group of 2-4 guests. However, on balance, it was really nice that we didn't have to bring all these with us.
