Wow this was such a highlight of our trip! Def wortg the trip! The onsen was amazing,the rooms were beautiful ,the dinner and breakfast experience delicious,and the staff super sweet. One thing to note, this is about an hr bus ride from Takayama station! We cut it really close because we didn't realize how far it was, if you get there after a certain time,they can't serve you dinner so plan accordingly

This was the most personal, kind experience I have ever received from a hotel. The building itself is beautiful - this is a true look at a traditional Japanese Ryokan with a few modern comforts. The staff gave us tons of suggestions for things to do and a whole basket of sweets to try on the house. The Sake tasting was also free. This is the best place I have ever stayed.

An absolutely magical experience, Yatusankan blew me away with the level of service and the beauty of the property. It was like staying in a museum--my wide and i remarked several times how much it felt like being inside the movie Spirited Away. Staying here was a special highlight of our trip and I hope to come back

If is a charming traditional Japanese inn in Takayama. It’s location is very convenient for walking to the train station and the main tourist area, but it is situated on a quiet side street. The staff was very friendly. The Japanese breakfast was excellent. We were given kimonos to wear. A very authentic experience.

The hosts are so very kind, welcoming and accomodating. They maintain the authentic experience of using a traditional family style inn from years past. Just be aware that bathrooms are communal, but have a nice onsen style aesthetic :)

A gem in Takayama. Enjoyed everything. Staff was amazing. We wanted to bring Yuki with us. Food delicious

Even though this hotel was not the most traditional in it's appearance, the ryokan experience here was incredibly memorable. Sleeping in a tatami covered room on futons, wearing traditional yukatas and having our kayseki meals served in our room were experiences we will never forget. Expensive because it is based on per person but something you have to do!

The owner is so nice and takes so much good care of the property. Everything was clean well maintained and the breakfast room was gorgeous. Breakfast was excellent. Great experience!

Ryokan Sansui is a peaceful retreat with beautiful mountain views, private outdoor onsen rooms, and the most dedicated, attentive and kind staff. We felt completely pampered by their service and hospitality. The meals were traditional omekase using local and seasonal ingredients. The food is clearly made with love, pride, and care. This ryokan was so wonderful. The staff is very nice and welcoming. It is a very short walk to Hida historical village. Get the breakfast and dinner package they were so delicious and very filling.

We really enjoyed our stay at this Ryokan. I was pleasantly surprised at how calming and soothing it was. We used the public bath which was incredible. Our view outside our place was gorgeous mountains overlooking parts of the town. There was a slight odor in the bathroom of musk but it didn’t affect us too much. Everything else was very clean. We stayed here two nights while traveling to kamikochi and shinhotoka ropeway, the staff were super sweet and spoke English and Japanese! There is no restaurant on the property but they have a map of a few within walking distance! The Onsens were so nice, and the rooms were so clean! Would definitely stay again!

This is a hotel in the middle of mountain in Hirayu area. Above the cleanness, comfort level..... I stay there couple of days. The hotel staff pick me up to bus station in Hirayu (5 Km away). I saying that the hotel does not have any officially shuttle program. They are go out their way to help me catch up with the bus schedule so i do not waste my time of bus station for waiting. And most importantly i have enough time to visit Kamokochi national park. I really appreciate the altitude...

We had a 11/10 stay here in Takayama. The staff were so accommodating and kind. They really went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The location is great, with easy walking access everywhere you'd want to go. Amenities were also fabulous. Highly recommend staying here if you want a really treat. Something we will never forget.
