"I stayed here one night before an early flight from stanstead. The hotel is conveniently located about 5 min drive to the airport. The chap at front desk was friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were both clean as was the shower. The room had tea making facilities and a hair dryer. The bed was not so good very bumpy, you could feel the springs, and parking is not free as stated I was charged £6. 50. Overall ok for a one night stay. "

"We stayed a night here before the early next morning flight from Stansted. The hotel is amazing and We have stayed at other Novotel hotels before around the country and I must say we were NOT disappointed. Good size family rooms. Clean hotel and staff was brilliant. Parking charges are a bit steep for the night but the car park is very secure. We didn’t get to use any of the hotel facilities, however the restaurant is amazing."

"Receptionist needs a refresher on customer service. Not warm/friendly at all. The card did not work one time and we called (she said she can't leave the desk) so we had to walk the entire way from the back. To be clear: I am not expecting her to leave her desk. Is there only 1 staff in this place? An apology would have been enough for the trouble. Instead? She said to not place the card near a phone. No sorry for that. I didn't ask for the reason or who is to blame. Is the technology being used by this hotel really that ancient? We stayed here to support a loved one in the nearby hospital. This attitude was really the last thing we need during this time."

"Very friendly and helpful staff make the Gem a good place to stay. The twin room was clean and pleasantly furnished, but when the weather is hot, as it was last weekend, the room gets very hot. The fan provided helped, but only one small window can be opened in the room and similar in the en-suite bathroom, so little air movement. A portable air conditioner would be a possible solution. The road outside the room is also busy from quite early on a Sunday morning, so even if more windows opened, you wouldn’t want to leave them open all night unless you want an early wake up call from the traffic. Shame about the heat as other than that it was a pleasant place to stay and there is an excellent Mediterranean (Turkish) restaurant just down the road if you fancy something a little more exotic to eat."
