San Francisco’s Financial District is the city’s business hub and is home to the headquarters of several Fortune 500 companies as well as upscale hotels. Gaze up at the Transamerica Pyramid, an iconic 48-story skyscraper. Shop for upscale fashionable clothing, beauty products, jewelry and accessories in this busy neighborhood.

Come here during the week and join the suited businesspeople making their way down the sidewalks. Look up at the cluster of sky-high towers that line the streets. Among them is the 850-foot (260-meter) tall Transamerica Pyramid, an imposing structure that can be seen from across the city. Enter the visitor center and watch a short film about the building’s construction.

Buy tickets to a show at the Punch Line Comedy Club. This intimate theater showcases underground talent as well as well-known headline comedians.

San Francisco’s Financial District borders one of the largest and oldest Chinatowns in North America. Survey buildings decorated in ornate gold dragons and dine in some of the best Chinese restaurants in San Francisco. Chinatown also hosts cultural events, including lion dances and flower fairs, throughout the year.

The Financial District is about 13 miles (21 kilometers) from San Francisco International Airport. Ride Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) trains to MontgomeryStreet Station. Private parking lots are available in the district.
