First of all, I cannot reiterate enough what a lovely stay we had in Polson and how much Jerod and Krystal went above and beyond to make our stay so nice.
HOWEVER, the description of this property was highly inaccurate and led to some surprises upon our arrival:
1. The very first sentence of the description states "nestled up against Flathead Lake, this is the family-friendly lakefront retreat you've been searching for!" The description goes on to mention "lakefront access," "Lakefront Property w/ Lake Access," "Boat Dock & Ramp," and "Spacious yard, lakefront access, personal dock with boat ramp." The lakefront access is actually half a mile down the hill from the property, NOT right there in the backyard as implied, and NOT personal/private. It is a community lake access, which a parking permit is required for (and not provided to guests), so if you'd like to enjoy the lake access and dock, you need to walk the half mile there and of course back up the hill. It was also extremely crowded and busy during our stay. This was a disappointing discovery, as we specifically selected to stay here for the private lake access and a relaxing weekend at the lake.
2. The description mentions a downstairs den and a game room downstairs a couple of times. To us, this implied that there was perhaps a basement below the main level. Upon arrival, we learned that the full living space was in an upstairs area (above a garage), not on the main level. This could have been an issue if either of us were incapable of walking upstairs. Not an issue for us, but would have been nice to know if it were.
3. Description mentions 2 wood-burning fireplaces. The downstairs area had a propane or natural gas fireplace and upstairs there was an electric heater that looks like a fireplace.
4. This isn't outright stated in the description, but up until we arrived, we were under the impression that this was a standalone house. In fact, it is behind the owner's home above their garage. The pictures and description do not mention this, and imply total privacy. We didn't feel comfortable sitting out on the balcony, as it faced the house.
Again, we had a lovely stay. Had we simply needed a place to stay in Polson, we would have been delighted, and we enjoyed the small touches made for us. Also impressed by toiletries provided (i.e toothbrush/toothpaste/shampoo). My recommendation to future travelers is to ask questions to be sure you understand what you are paying for.
