Kendall Mountain Lodge

"This property is somewhat out of the old west. The room was tiny but adequate. The bathroom was some 40 feet down the hall - which makes mid-night runs a drag. The shower was likewise down the hall. However both rooms were, while small, were very clean and serviceable. I thought sure I was the only person in the building it is so quiet. I was amazed when I realized in fact I had numerous other visitors. REgistration was done at another hotel a block away, but my thanks go out to the polite and understanding young man who assisted me - a very tired traveler. The bedroom is spare and would benefit from some decoration (a picture or two for color) and a small lamp of somekind. I detest overhead lighting, but that's it! The beds were a tad lumpy, but again serviceable and clean. Thank you to the cleaning staff. Overall, it was adequate and in keeping with the price."

"I absolutely loved this place - and would book in the future. I was given the "Loft Room," which is a kitchenette-style unit. It was really a great room!! The bed/mattress was beyond top-notch comfortable and the room well-equipped with anything one could want. The staff was helpful and accommodating. The grounds were very well maintained and had a beautiful fire pit area with lots of comfortable seating and individual s'mores packets ready made for guests to grab and "melt" over the nightly fire. There is also a shuttle bus that can take you into downtown (.8 miles away) just one business down that leaves every hour - which is free and has multiple stops through town. I loved my stay here. Julie was a breath of fresh air to encounter after a long drive and I look forward to staying again, hopefully in my favorite room. AG"

"This was a wonderful bed and breakfast lodge in Ouray. It was clean, quiet, comfortable, and up to date. There was also a beautiful common living room. and the breakfast area was always open. Wine and cookies were served free at 5 PM. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I would absolutely go back."

"I stayed at the Avon for three nights during a multi-week ADV motorcycle trip through the Southwest and Colorado. Unfortunately, the weather in the San Juan Mountains had other plans for us, and we got thoroughly washed out. That made me even happier to have the Avon as my home base in Silverton. The location is incredibly convenient, right in the heart of town. There is a large kitchen available for guests, a spacious second-floor patio, and even a hiker box where hikers can take whatever they might need for the next leg of their trip. It has exactly the kind of practical, relaxed atmosphere that works well for hikers, motorcyclists, and anyone traveling through the mountains. But the best part of the Avon was the people. I rarely stay somewhere where I meet such an interesting and enjoyable group of people to talk to. Maybe the miserable weather helped bring everyone together, but while it poured outside, we had an absolute blast inside. After three days, the Avon felt less like a hotel and more like a gathering place for travelers with good stories to tell. I would stay here again anytime. Five stars and highly recommended."
