"Our stay at Lotte Arai Resort was nothing short of magical — truly a winter wonderland experience from start to finish. One of the standout conveniences was the complimentary shuttle service to and from the station. It made arrival and departure completely seamless and stress-free, especially when travelling with winter gear. From the moment we stepped onto the shuttle, everything felt easy and well-organised. We opted for the full board package, and it was absolutely worth it. The variety and quality of food across all meals were fantastic, with plenty of options to suit different tastes. Every meal felt like something to look forward to after a day in the snow. Speaking of which — the resort itself is perfectly set up for snow lovers. With direct access to snow activities, everything is right at your doorstep. No long commutes, no hassle — just step outside and you’re instantly immersed in the alpine experience. Whether you’re skiing, exploring, or simply soaking in the scenery, it truly feels like you’re in a postcard. The rooms were another highlight: spacious, beautifully appointed, and incredibly comfortable — the perfect place to relax and recharge. "They, the staff, exceeded my expectations . Courteous, helpful, kind and pleasant are words that I would use to describe them. Everyone greets you with a bow and civility, right down to the hardest workers in the hotel. For that, i will surely come back. My stay at the Prince Hotel East was worth every yen and then some. I originally was suppose to stay at the Sunvalley Hotel, in Shiga Kogen. I lost my reservation there due to payment issues. I was hesitant about coming to the Prince Hotel. It was my first time. The room i stayed in was probably one of the best i have seen for the price. The next time I am in Shiga Kogen, i am staying at the Prince Hotel East, without a doubt."

"Cool, old school Japan experience. Dated for sure but has charm. Nice folks running it. Breakfast was small, probably the only real complaint. Also no instant coffee available to make on your own so for those that like to get up and have a cup it’s not happening until breakfast and if you order Japanese breakfast you pay extra for coffee. Cold in the hotel, and the kerosene heaters don’t turn on super early so you’re in your room till 7. Nice onsen. "
