I was not looking forward to a week in Tokyo so I decided to spend one relaxing night in Izu Peninsula. For some reason, I chose Nagaoka, the town where there once was up to 200 Geisha's entertaining at the Onsens. Anyway, the deal on Expedia linked me to Futaba onsen. The staff is 100% in the game - really accommodating. The hotel has been around for some time but it's upkeep is pretty reasonable. There are two baths, one is basically public and the other is outside-private where you can reserve it up to 30 minutes at a time. The outside bath in my opinion could have been hotter, the inside bath was about little less than perfect - which is, I guess good. Problem is, I like really hot water. The rooms are nice. I didn't have the dinner because I met someone outside but the Breakfast was very nicely prepared. It's quiet and next to a hill so you can take a walk and not worry about running into people as you would in Tokyo. It was a nice escape for me. I'd go back.
