We absolutely loved our stay. Staff was so courteous and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was great. We hope to be back! The area is so beautiful. Be sure to hike over to the waterfalls and hopefully see some wild monkeys.

This was my first time staying at a ryokan. I had a wonderful time. The view was simply amazing. The dinner and breakfast meals were 10 out of 10 for presentation and taste. The baths were equally refreshing. The only thing I could critique is the bed was a little minimal compared to western beds I'm used to. I still got a great nights rest and would come back in a heartbeat.

We had an excellent stay. The family was so wonderful. They took great care of us and were so sweet. Breakfast was delicious. The ryokan was beautiful and felt very traditional. Would highly recommend!

Beside the leaking ceiling, the room was nice. I was upgraded and also the staffs were extremely kind and thoughtful. Gave me a welcome gift while during the stay and it was nice to see child hood snacks at the front. Decoration and the atmosphere were very nice. Over all lived my stay and would come back 20/10.

The staff were beyond friendly and hospitable! My friend staying with me was having medical issues and we were immediately offered help/accommodations in any way possible. The bath has a fantastic view over Nara, the property is nestled amongst some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever seen, our room was very cozy, and the breakfast in the morning left us full and satisfied. We loved our stay here! Definitely want to return to stay at this onsen. We were greeted at check in with a sweet gift for our honeymoon it was so thoughtful! We loved arashiyama and the convenience of how walkable our hotel was to both stations and the town. The beds are so comfortable the room we stayed in was spacious. One of the highlights of the trip. An absolute must if you want to stay in a traditional Ryokan. Location was an added bonus to the bamboo forest and monkey park. Staff was top notch!

Good location. The hotel staff is very friendly, the service is more "personalized" feels rather than the chain hotel style. Make sure you pick the rate include breakfast and dinner; the food is good and is so much cheaper if you eat similar food at the near restaurant. I am not sure the water at hot shared bath on the basement floor is coming from onsen or not, but it does help to release some stress from a day of walking. Absolutely stay here when in Kyoto. This was our favorite hotel on our trip to Japan. It is an authentic experience. Dinner and breakfast were great (though they may be tough for a picky eater). But most importantly, the staff was amazing. We have never felt more welcomed by a hotel. They became our friends. We will be back!

We stayed 2 nights in the Kuro room, and honestly our experience could not have been better! The room was one of the most beautiful, unique and spacious rooms I have ever stayed in and was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, the property meticulously maintained, and the level of service was beyond what I even imagined. The owners could not have been more welcoming, friendly, warm and accommodating. A wonderful experience!

Honestly, there are not enough stars for this hotel. The staff is very friendly and kind, the rooms were clean with such an amazing view of the river, and the vibe was so soothing it was honestly hard to leave! The employees made us feel welcomed and spoke English well. The even let us barrow an umbrella when we went out while there was light rain. The best part was after a long day of walking, we enjoyed the nice private tub in our suite. So nice, me and my fiance used it everytime we came back...
