With new COVID-19 safety measures in place, travel looks a bit different today. Here's what you should know before you hop on that plane to Daniel Island:

• Look into what, if any, restrictions or rules apply to both your destination and origin. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so remember to check before you book.
• Wear a face mask even during airport screening. A TSA employee will require you to lower your mask temporarily for identification purposes.
• Do not hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA employee. Instead, position your pass on the scanner and then hold it up for inspection.
• TSA is now permitting passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will need to be removed from your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• Put any personal items (phone, wallet and keys for example) in your carry-on rather than a bin to minimize handling during screening.
• If you're bringing food through the security checkpoint, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA officer will need to touch your food container or carry-on bag for closer inspection.
