Bradley Cross Farm, Shepherds Cottage

  • High on the Mendip Hills, sits a stone cottage on a working farm, with breathtaking views over the Somerset Levels. The cottage was built around 1850 and was formerly occupied by the local shepherd grazing his sheep on this area of the Mendip Hills. Today the land is grazed by the traditional breeds of Longhorn Cattle and Wiltshire Horn Sheep, well suited to managing the natural grassland on the farm. Cheddar Gorge, Site of Special Scientific Interest, lies to the north of the farm and Mascalls’ Wood, an ancient woodland, lies to the west. Cheddar village and local shops are a distance of about 1 mile from the cottage. Ideal for walkers and close to the Mendip Way.
