"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Salt Water Vacations offers excellent customer service from start to finish and our stay was wonderful! The unit was modern, extremely clean and pictures are accurate as shown. Having towel drying bars was a nice added touch given the humidity, we always had fresh dry towels (Mahalo). Having Carl Smith Beach Park as your back drop, swim area is a great bonus, and perhaps that is why we didn't spend a lot of time at the pool. Pool is just ok, but the ocean is the highlight for us. The condo complex itself is safe, neighbours and grounds keepers were friendly. We would highly recommend Salt Water Vacations and this particular unit if you are a couple staying in Hilo. "It is a great location, and about the right size for two of us. I did not read the description well enough, and did not realize that it is not air conditioned. It was a little warm, and we had some trouble sleeping. Otherwise, we were very happy with it. It was great to be able to just go downstairs and walk into the little protected tidepools and use the snorkeling gear that is in the bin on the patio."

"We really enjoyed our stay here. This isn't a new property, but it's perfect for what it is, where it is, and the price. The rooms were beautiful, clean, open, and decorated to give that true Hawaii feel. There is no A/C, but we were comfortable in September when the heat and humidity were strong. They provide several fans which we used at night. We enjoyed being able to use the kitchen. They also supplied beach chairs and a cooler that we could use. The condo and grounds were clean and well maintained, with a laundry room on the same floor that was easy to use. We especially loved that it's located right at Carlsmith Beach Park (with swimmable/snorkeling-friendly inland lagoons and a feast for the eyes all around). I highly recommend it and would love to stay there again."

"We had a great time. This is a wonderful location next to the park. This is our 3rd time staying in the complex. There is a gate in the back to access the park. Turtles are always visiting there. If you like the out doors and wildlife; we have seen wild pigs, mongoose, geckos, lizards, all kinds of birds, and the most wonderful frogs that sing to you at night. The views from the balcony is amazing. It was nice to have items left in the refrigerator and shelves. The kitchen is well stocked. I recommend that you check the supplies before going grocery shopping. Even without air conditioning, there is a great breeze coming through the doors and windows. I prefer not using air. The bed was very comfortable. The local people are very friendly. Parking is easy."

"Awesome location right next to Carl Smith Beach. It's an older complex but the unit looked just as advertised and had been renovated. There is only a small portable ac unit in the main bedroom. It did get a bit warm in the afternoons. The washer and dryer are located down the hall not actually in the unit. We enjoyed spending evenings and mornings on the lanai and watching sea turtles on the beach. The condo came well stocked with beach chairs and umbrella."
