With new COVID-19 safety measures in effect, travel looks a little different nowadays. Here are a few things to know before you head off to Captiva Island:

• Find out if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before booking. Also check if there are any conditions you'll have to follow on arrival, such as taking a COVID-19 test.
• Wear a face mask during airport screening. A TSA employee will require you to adjust your mask for identification purposes.
• Instead of handing a TSA agent your boarding pass, position it directly on the scanner yourself. Once that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• One liquid hand sanitizer container is now allowed in your carry-on bag. It must not be larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll need to take it out of your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• To minimize handling during the screening process, place items such as your phone, keys and wallet into your carry-on instead of the bins.
• Separate any food you're carrying for screening. Food items often trigger the alarm. Putting them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA employee to handle and inspect your belongings.
