"This hotel is decent for the cost but overall I’ve stayed in better places. It was a little dangerous with homeless hanging in the back of the lobby. The main front door was barricaded off which was a pain going to the side doors. The rooms are older and drafty. My room in particular did not have heat and it was cold outside. The AC had a paper taped to it with a knob and someone drew the arrows but it did not quite work right. The door also seemed as if it didn’t close all the way which made me feel unsafe. I used my luggage in front of the door in the event someone could get in. One night I could hear people screaming and yelling and slamming doors. As a single female, this hotel overall did not feel safe and I’d suggest paying a little more for rooms that have heat and a newer building. "

"This is a great spot! A very quaint residential area with easy access to public transportation. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding neighborhoods and would stay here again. The host was very responsive and proactively took care of a minor smoke detector issue upon our arrival."

"I recently stayed at your hotel on 5/2/26 for a one-night trip to Chicago to attend an event. While I found the facility to be very clean and well-maintained, I am writing to express my frustration regarding an unexpected upcharge for fitness amenities. I was shocked to find a mandatory fee added to my bill for the fitness area, which I was not made aware of prior to booking. Had I known about this charge, I would have chosen a different hotel. As a guest in town for a specific event, I had no time to use these additional amenities and was only at the hotel to rest. Because the fitness area uses card entry, it would be simple to enable access only for guests who opt-in to the service, rather than forcing a charge on every guest. As it stands, I do not believe in paying for amenities I did not use, especially without prior notice. Due to this policy, I felt compelled to leave a low rating. I would only consider staying here again if this added charge was made optional rather than a requirement of the stay. I hope you take this feedback into consideration to improve the experience for future guests. I hope you share this review with the hotel, itself, as I found this a cause for me to lower my opinion of the facility. Not everyone stay at a hotel just for the amenities; especially in Chicago."

"I can't say enough good things about the Robey. Everything is beautiful. There are spaces to relax and enjoy you stay without being in the room. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The restaurant has sweet staff. I enjoyed my stay and I hope to return someday soon. Thank you to the entire staff and especially the handsome doorman!"

"This place is very quirky. Positives are the adjacent co-working space which you have access too as a guest. Negatives are one bathroom and people that spend an hour+ in it leaving everyone else hanging. Strange and unpleasant smells. Bed I had in my private room was comfortable though and that was what I mostly needed."

"The room was great, just as listed. Comfortable bed, nice clean bathroom, perfect location, and easy to find. We would definitely book again. FYI: One of the handles on the shower was broken and hanging."

"The Inn is on a pretty little street in the heart of Wicker Park. It's very accessible to bus and train lines. The staff were lovely, everything was very clean and very comfortable. They provide a house made continental breakfast each morning in the common area kitchen. There is a train line right behind the house but we always sleep with a white noise machine anyway so it didn't bother us. The doors to the rooms could us better sealing as to block out hall light and noise. Overall we had a pleasant stay and met some lovely fellow guests! "

"The property had an unpleasant odor and was a basement unit with residents on the ground floor. Each night there was loud stomping on the wood floors above by the residents. Sent an email to the owner for the combination to get into the unit with NO response. Had to call the VRBO home base to get that information. The price of the unit given its location along with the other issues listed above was too high. Would NOT have booked this property if the issues above had been disclosed."
