「Oliver was a wonderful host - fresh home-baked bread, butter and milk and a basket of goodies left for us, as well as a welcome sign! My 10 year old immediately felt welcome and excited to be there! The river view from the bedroom was magic in the morning. Bathroom was clean with a lovely shower.We came and went as we pleased and felt very safe. Lots of modern gadgets in the kitchen and a big TV. We enjoyed a few games of Snakes and Ladders before bed. Oliver offered plenty of local knowledge....

「Beautiful place with beautiful local artwork. The cabin was beautiful- a place you immediately want to call home. The fresh herbs and spinach left by Sally was one of my favourite touches.The outdoor bath was lovely too. Wildlife. Aplenty The location was about 40 minutes away from Orange as leaving the property took ten minutes because of the dirt road. The drive in looks scary as it's off road but you get used to it just keep in mind.」

「After watching the ABC segment filmed a long time ago, it is a credit to the owners to see how lovely and relaxing the accommodation is now.The Blacksmith’s Cottage is perfect for a couple. We bought cheese and wine with us as we’d read the reviews and knew a full kitchen wasn’t included. A microwave, crockery and tea/coffee making supplies were so it was perfect. 「Incredible stay at Basalt Retreat! We enjoyed a cozy and luxurious evening the beautiful vineyard, made even more lovely by the complimentary bottle of prosecco and warm hot cocoa. The space itself is gorgeous and so well appointed—from the fascinating books to the gorgeously-scented bath products. Breakfast was delicious: an exquisite croissant loaf with butter and fig jam, plus yogurt and muesli, all made by local purveyors. If you have time, make sure to get lunch at the lovely restaurant....

「The property was absolutely stunning, beautiful garden, amazing interior, large communal space, outdoor and indoor. Big BBQ area, pizza oven, pool. Bedrooms were great, isolated, no noise issues. My only issue was that the water pressure in the showers in the house (not including the cabins) was terrible. Other than that everything was amazing. Would have been nice to know that there was a pizza oven as this wasn't in the pictures. The pictures could be updated to show how amazing the house is,...

「We stayed as a group of 10, aged from 8 to 80 and every single person enjoyed the stay a lot! The view from living rooms and master bedroom was simple stunning, alpacas and sheeps at the door step were divine as well as beautiful outdoor entertainment area including nicely setup fire pit (including wood provided), large dinning area, swings and quality pizza oven.The communication with the owner was excellent and the house looked exactly as advertised (if not better). 「A quirky property, but not one for winter. This property is off grid and we were only informed 2 days prior to arriving that the electricity is limited particularly the use of heaters. Whilst there is a fire place, there was only wood provided for two days, we had booked 4. After spending a further 100 on wood from the supermarket we struggled to keep the place warm, even when we were prepared with extra warm clothing.」
