My boyfriend and our dog enjoyed our stay in this cottage. The place is a short drive to the village and the beach. Our dog had fun at the off leash dog beach that Mary recommended.
We loved this charming cottage. So many cute touches and thoughtful amenities. We loved the quiet country setting that was still close to everything we wanted to do. Host communication was great. Highly recommend.
I stayed here with my dog. It’s the perfect location to the beautiful surrounding areas. Very quiet. The owners, Steve and Mary, gave me lots of space while also making sure I had everything I needed. Overall, it was a great stay. Thank you!
Sign on the outside said "bunkhouse" which may overstate the size of the accommodations a smidge, but all the basics here just outside of San Luis Obisbo. Hosts were friendly and everything was there and working for a peaceful weekend. Thanks!
We had a great time staying at Steve & Mary's place and would definitely recommend. They were both very kind and helpful and checked in when we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. The studio is small but cozy and is stocked with all the amenities. We also enjoyed seeing the goats!
Comfortable stay in the Bunkhouse in wine country, but near towns and businesses. Short drive to coast and beaches. Good entertainment and great kitchen and facilities. Lovely interesting hosts. Only regret, we didn't stay longer.
This house sits on a gorgeous property, a couple of goats nearby, horses in the neighborhood and so serene. We were yet close enough to our destinations in SLO, ocean, shopping, wine tasting and did a day trip to Hearst Castle. The kitchen has everything you would need if you stayed in a few nights like we did. We would definitely rent here again.
The owners of this property put in a great deal of thought into the comfort of their visitors. I can honestly say I have no suggestions to better our stay. It is small, but had everything we needed and had really good storage. Very quiet. Although it is about 25 min to SLO, we would stay there again.
This was our second stay and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. The cottage had everything we needed for our two-day visit. Very clean. Lovely, quiet setting with the hosts nearby if needed. Relaxing to sit outside in the country while still having easy access to restaurants, shopping and services in Arroyo Grande and other Central Coast destinations. Thanks, Steve and Mary!
Very relaxing and quite place to stay. Everything you could possibly need is already there. Kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, glasses, pots, and pans and a coffee maker. This place is in the country just outside Arroyo Grande with horses in nearby pastures. Will visit this little gem again!
We had a wonderful stay at the property. It was clean and we have everything we needed. Communication was easy and owners were very helpful. We enjoyed our breakfast one morning sitting outside and soaking the lush surroundings and the sun on us. Nice touch to have a welcome treat waiting for us upon arrival. Hopefully, we can come back in the summer time!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage :). It was small but perfectly arranged to accommodate our needs. The outdoor seating area was very relaxing and it was entertaining to sit, listen to the birds and watch the goats nearby :) The hosts were kind and are on site if needed, but also respect their guests privacy. We will definitely be staying again and look forward to another visit!
Everything was great! What stood out was the quality in all aspects like the soft comfy bed linens & towels, and the decor items were very special in that they were things people might already have in their own homes - nice, not kitschy, over-themed, cheap things as is so often the case… there were interrelated themes but they were subtle and soothing: trees, animals and poetry.
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely guesthouse. The owner welcomed us the first day to ask if we needed anything. We loved the charm in the interior decor, with many amenities. We could see so many stars at night and loved the peacefulness with calls of Acorn Woodpeckers. Also, close to the cute Arroyo Grande Village with lots of restaurants and shops. We were close to different hiking trails, vineyards, as well as the sand dunes south of Pismo Beach, some for vehicles but others for nature walkers.
We will definitely refer this place to our family and friends.
This guesthouse is completely private and away from the owner's home. This place is well organized and has all you need if you wish to cook. Very quiet countryside area with horses and goats in the neighborhood. The only suggestion I have for this property is to replace the mattress with one having a more firm support - the mattress was too soft and I had to sleep in the middle of the bed. Everything was very clean and an inviting place to stay. I enjoyed my stay at "the Bunkhouse!" Thank you.
The rural setting is quiet and a welcome respite from the highway. The bunkhouse is small but very comfortable and well equipped. It had everything we needed for our stay, including a patio area where we could set up our barbecue. The variety of birds and friendly goats were a welcome addition. However, by far the best thing was the kindness of our hosts, Steve and Mary. They knew exactly what to do when I had an unexpected medical problem - I don't know what we would have done without their help. Great people and a great spot. We strongly recommend it. Becky & Chris
We had a great stay. Place was small (3 people are definitely tight), but crammed full of amenities, and on a beautiful property.
Everything was really well thought out, with great linens, really clean, all the kitchen supplies you could ask for. Goats were fun ambiance.
Property is dog friendly, but is not fenced, so just keep that in mind if that matters to your pups. The road it is on is not busy, but still could be an issue.
While a little drive away, Arroyo Grande has a cute downtown with lots of good food and free parking that sits behind the downtown. Easy access to SLO without going out to the freeway. Was a great central location to lots of Central Coast fun.
Hosts were very nice.
It was excellent! Nice and quiet! Very clean! Hosts were very hospitable! Easy to talk to! Bunkhouse was exactly as described! Our first night there the electricity was off in the whole area but the owners had flashlights and lanterns for us to use! Steve showed my husband how to start the fire pit! We used that until after the lights went back on. Mary gave us goat treats to feed the goats! They went above and beyond! We will be repeat guests!
Steve and Mary's little cottage is just down the driveway from their main home, located out in the country but very convenient to beaches, wineries and all things Central Coast. Arabian horses are right across the street...they are gorgeous. The best part of this little place (it's very small, but very well organized; perfect for two) is its updated interior (far different from the picture on VRBO which I think should be updated to reflect the very charming interior), the unobtrusive friendliness and helpfulness of its hosts, and the wonderful birdlife (Oh! The quail and hummingbirds!) and wildlife which we enjoyed in the early mornings while having coffee on the little patio. Their two little goats are charming! I highly recommend Steve and Mary's place for a nice little getaway!
