"Staff excellent, surprisingly good breakfast, close to the train and buses. Walking distance from Kyoto station, Higashi Hongan, and Tōji. Next to the line that takes you to Osaka in something like half an hour."

"Good experience to stay in traditional Japanese house.clean and kitchen well equipped. Washing machine was convenient. Due to it being an older building, insulation isn’t very good and gets very cold in the winter and need heaters in all rooms. Location is not great as it is walking distance to most places. Bus stop 7 minute walk. Could have provided more furniture such as chairs. Overall nice experience besides being on the cold side."

"We stayed at 2 other hotels in Japan and this our favorite. The room and the hotel itself was absolutely beautiful and very clean. The hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. The hotel is conveniently located next to a grocery store. The hotel amenities included a snack/drink bar, coin laundry, and a public bath (super clean). The only downside was the size of the room but that's a given in Japan hotel. Still enough space to get around. Would 10000 percent stay here again. "

"Overall not bad just the room too small"

"Great service, room was spacious in the annex building. It was fairly clean but there were a few spots, particularly the bottom corners of the wall in the shower, and the tiles between the bath tub and the wall that could really use some deep cleaning - they were clearly discoloured. Some of the spaces between the floor tiles in the washroom were also discoloured. Another thing missing compared to comparable hotels was a heated toilet seat - thought it was odd it didn't have that! "

"The hotel was beautiful, the amenities - especially the private baths - were great. Staff were friendly and the location was very handy to get around from. The only thing that was a bit of an issue was the key system: you're only given one set of keys and you must always exchange your key with access to your shoes or vice versa, so just stepping out for some air was such a chore, especially when the front desk is packed with people checking in or just wanting to get their shoes. "

"Newly renovated hotel with modern design. Our superior king room was very spacious for Japan standards. Plus we have lounge access which is a nice touch. Very convenient if you don’t wanna go out for dinner. There’s also a fitness center and laundry facility. The staff are very professional, courteous and accommodating especially Jessica, who assisted us with our luggage delivery to the next hotel, as well as our dry cleaning. They always greeted us with a smile. Very close to Kyoto...

"Umekoji Potel is undoubtedly one of the best hotels I've stayed in! The hotel was incredibly easy to get to and from Kyoto station (as Umekoji is one stop away) our room was amazing with a fantastic view of the park. The staff were amazing from the moment we stepped through the door and were always keen to help us when needed. The facilities are excellent and it was lovely to have different spaces to relax in other than our room. Incredibly family-friendly as well. Thanks for the lovely time! "
