"Cute semi-traditional Japanese room walking distance from Nara Park and literally a minute from the Nara station of the Kintetsu line. Spacious room (relative to typical Japanese hotel rooms). Kind staff! Note that check in is only until 11pm. We were late but lucky the receptionist heard our cries and he had not left yet for the night."

"Awesome hostel and super cheap! The only down side I had was that the bed was a little bit small and the space in the toilets was a bit tight. I'm quite a tall guy though. Otherwise it was a super clean hostel with really friendly staff. For the price I paid I was pleasantly surprised."

"The place is clean, the bedrooms are spacious, the common rooms are cozy, the showers are high pressure, and the staff were very friendly. The only complaint is that the house dog situation was, for the time that I was there, a little concerning. They were quite vocal and unfriendly for the most part, apparently because they were in heat. I believe the staff when they say it's not always like that. But overall I greatly enjoyed Guest House Matsu so much that I kept wanting to spend time there...

"Very nice hostel! Very close to tsuruhashi station, and there's a convenience store right next door. Check in was quick and easy, and the areas are bigger than the pictures make it seem. Everything was clean and comfortable, definitelly recommend!"

"The hostel was comfortable overall. The bathrooms were not that clean as the other hostels I’ve been at in Japan but still bearable. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. Only issue is the shoes (which you have to remove before getting in the beds section are placed within the dorm itself giving a nauseating smell for who is close to them, maybe place them outside?staff overall friendly and lounge really nice and equipped "

"It was hard to get a goodnight sleep, people were very loud which at this point I had stayed in four hotels traveling all around Japan, besides that there were no amenities included which every other hotel offered. I had to pay 200 yen for just a towel. It’s located in a nice area. And I wouldn’t had minded the charge of amenities since I had my own, but the noice, people were not respectful at all and there was noice all night. Overall it’s a good place to stay if you just want a place to leave...

"I stayed in a semi private room, and it was honestly brilliant. More hostels should do that, cause it was so nice to be able to have your own space, but not have to buy a single room. The other facilities were nice and clean. I also loved that I was invited to join on a night out when I checked in."
