"Amazing staff"

"This place is so over priced, I arrived to find no key in the safe lock, no answer from anybody I called to find out what was happening, 3/4 hr later I knocked on a neighbouring door to be given a key,, very rudely. On entering the premises it’s basic with nothing to make you feel home from home, although spring, the heating didn’t come on till 10 o’clock at night. There was no facilities for drinks, other than earl grey and sweeteners, no milk and the few things in the cupboards look like they’d been stolen from ikeas kitchen displays .. very disappointing and disgusted…. For the price… I’d highly avoid this place.."

"The lock on our assigned room malfunctioned so we were moved to an adjacent room. That room was adequate, though the bathroom was very small and thus awkward to use. Standard pub fare was provided for lunch and dinner - nothing to get excited about. Breakfast, however, was excellent and served in a room functioning as a coffee shop for nearby railway customers (their coffee is good). Although the Red Lion is advertised as being under new management, their partnership with Smart Parking Ltd. is inexcusable. The steady stream of 1-star reviews on Trustpilot describes Smart Parking as a cynical and aggressive money-making business that often issues unfair fines based upon faulty IT. Despite registering my vehicle details at the bar and providing receipts for my stay, I am still being pursued for a £100 Parking Charge Notice (initially reduced to £20 if I didn't appeal) based upon some fictional breach of their T&Cs. My case is currently with the Independent Appeals Service. My recommendation would be to use the B&B Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn Express) next to the Red Lion."

"Very tired looking room. Could do with fresh paint to cover the stuff marks and some new net curtains as these were ripped and hanging down. Room could have done with a good clean but the bedding, towels, toilet, shower & sink were clean. Bed wasn’t comfortable. Lots of noise from the main road. Would expect more for £80 per night. Wouldn't stay again unless there was some improvements made. "

"There's a free park and ride about 15 minutes away with a bus ride into Cambridge stoping at various tourist locations ...as we are now of an age we were able to use our bus pass from Hampshire so the complete journey was free"

"We had a lovely stay at the property, overall it was excellent value, clean, was as advertised and it was in a good location to get to/from Cambridge and there was plenty of local amenities nearby. Just a couple of small improvements would have made it perfect, we had to buy a corkscrew (as we needed to open our wine ), we felt there could be more drinking glasses available (such as tumbler glasses for juice as we had to use pint glasses or wine glasses), another tea towel/hand towel in the kitchen would also be useful.We could not find any instructions in the property on how to work the desktop dishwasher and the shower (it has an unusual 3 outlets for water), we feel having instructions would be beneficial.Amy was very helpful and responded quickly to any queries we had. I would definitely recommend a stay at this property."
