The Space:
The quiet village of Wookey, nestled between the Mendip Hills and Somerset Levels is just two miles from the cathedral city of Wells. Home to a diverse range of wildlife with excellent walks and cycle routes. the village is within easy reach are many beautiful sandy beaches and numerous visitor attractions. The Milking Parlour is an attractive, single storey, detached cottage, carefully converted using local materials. Lots of lovely original features remain including wooden beams, colourful 200 year old roof tiles and stone drinking troughs - now transformed into interesting plant holders. Inside, the lofty lounge, with high raftered ceiling is flooded with light from the full height windows which run the length of the room. The kitchen/diner opens onto the sunny patio at the side of the property, overlooking the owners' orchard, the backdrop to which is the stunning Mendip Hills. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one a wet room, complete the living accommodation. Converted from a further barn, the neighbouring games room with table tennis and table football is great fun for all ages.
The Neighborhood:
Wells is named after its springs in the grounds of the Bishop's Palace. Adjacent is the 12th century cathedral. Close by, Vicars Close's market square offers shops, boutiques and restaurants, and a bi-weekly market. The surrounding AONB provides scenic footpaths and landscapes, a centre for caving and rock climbing, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole Caves, are also great days out. With the Somerset Levels, as well as Glastonbury an easy drive away, this city makes an ideal touring base. With much to see and do, there is something for everyone here.
